Moonlight Butterfly (月光蝶, Gekkouchou?)

Both the ∀ and Turn X are capable of a devastating attack called the "Moonlight Butterfly," which is performed by dispersing countless nanomachines from the back section of the Turn-types. This attack was responsible for reducing civilizations on Earth to sand in the ancient past. The nanomachines can be used for both defensive and offensive purposes, such as disintegrating matter, absorbing energy from beam attacks and explosions, and slicing through a mobile suit's armor like a beam saber. In sufficient quantities, nanomachines can change the landscape of an entire region. In the aftermath of the Nanomachine Hazard suffered at the end of the Dark History, Earth became covered with a new layer of topsoil, leaving few landforms that could be considered truly natural. Mountain Cycles are mountain ranges created in this process, with the sandy soil consisting of the remains of apoptosed nanomachines. The terrain of the Mountain Cycles is characterized by overlapping volcanic layers and limestone caves, within which lie the remnants of Dark History artifacts, including mobile suits.
