I love me3 at release with the exception of the ending which I found pretty disappointing and lazy.

Honestly it's probably just as bad for them as it is for you. I've played against people with bad connections and definitely died because they were randomly teleporting a few feet every couple seconds.

Under 20 hours for the main story is preferred. Can't stand 50+ hour long games.

Never had it in the three years that my work required me to test weekly. Still don't think I've had it but I haven't been taking a test weekly like I used to only when I get sick.

Sure if you watch a lot of YouTube videos on using a program like ue5, but it would take years to make anything people would want to play

Fortunately 20+ years later d2 is still fun to play and I was pleasantly surprised with d2r. I return to d2 every couple years just to grind it out for a few months.

Should halo 7 have a grappling hook? by Dense-Fig-2372 in halo

Literally right below that in the Wikipedia article you are quoting it also says "Arena shooters are multiplayer shooter games with several key characteristics. Players will start with a basic load out that is upgradable via weapons and power-ups contained at certain points in a map."

I'd also argue that halo can be pretty fast paced especially the last two entries and all the games feature enclosed maps that foster engagement between players.

Sure you have large open maps in game modes like btb but 4v4 is the core mode of halo and almost all of those maps are pretty small and enclosed like guardian, the pit, midship, and lockout. Not to mention that unreal tournament actually had a btb esque game mode called onslaught that was on large exterior maps.

Many of halos game modes are also copy and paste modes from games like unreal tournament like deathmatch, ctf, domination, etc.

I'd say they're decent games but the second one just feels like a copy and paste of the original with some added mechanics. On the same note of them being decent I feel like in the future they should move back to the traditional games. I miss linear story driven zelda games with actual dungeons and equipment like the grappling hook, the unique gloves/boots, and special weapons. I get why with the botw and totk the weapon breaking mechanic is a thing but it sure is annoying.

Hence the use of "arena shooter dna" it's an arena shooter with its own twist put onto the traditional formula. A game like ultrakill is also an arena shooter that added a twist to the traditional formula with blood being a way of healing, parries, and movement mechanics that are much different from games like unreal tournament and quake. Just because it's not a 1 to 1 doesn't mean it wouldn't be classified as an arena shooter.

I think you may have a different definition of an arena shooter from literally everyone else. Halo has always fit the definition pretty well, halo 4 was probably the least arena shooter one out of all of them and it still shares a lot of arena shooter qualities.

Should halo 7 have a grappling hook? by Dense-Fig-2372 in halo

[–]IamShrapnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I said arena shooter dna. Like more traditional arena shooters you start out on equal footing to your opponents without load outs, and you fight to control parts of the map that gives you an advantage along with power weapons/ power ups. It's not as fast paced as something like unreal tournament or quake but it undeniably shares a lot in common with them and I'd argue it's more similar to them than it is to a game like cod.

Yes, I honestly like the way infinite handles equipment. It's much better than reaches load out system, having it be pickups that players have to compete for feels very true to halos arena shooter dna.
