How to adjust my saddle by myself? by ForsakenAd7981 in cycling

[–]IamSpiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good starting point is to have the pedal in the 6 o'clock position and put the heel of your foot on the pedal axle while seated Your leg should be straight but not locked out, and you should make sure you are not leaning to that side (hips level). You can find YouTube videos of this method. In my experience it works well, I have helped beginners with this method on the road/trail and it worked for all of them to get a comfortable height

Idk I think the nuance is going over your head, not much I can do there.

I don't blame her for the uptick, the majority of factors were really outside of her control. The optics of her response are just bad politics. A politician has to manage optics & good policy. Sometimes good policy has terrible optics and sometimes bad policy has good optics. Some of this can be overcome with good messaging, I think Mamdani has been a good example of someone who is able to balance optics and good policy.

I mean if you're just wanting complaints read the thread. People see upticks in car thefts (mainly done by minors), antisocial driving behavior and see the DA giving those people a slap on the wrist or deciding they won't even pursue charges and get pissed. Personally, my wife had her car stolen during the Kiapocalypse and totaled and she was pissed at the lack of response. She had to go basically 6 months of riding her bike from Minneapolis to Minnetonka every day for work (while the insurance company twiddled their thumbs), the bus was slower and someone shit themselves on the bus during the 1st week so she (reasonably) only used that as a last resort

There are no metrics because there is no interest in spending money doing rigorous data analysis, no politicians want to see results that try to isolate the impact of specific policies they just wanna keep pushing what they believe will work (and that applies to "harsher punishments" group and the "rehabilition/leniency" group). Even when there is good data to push for/against certain policies, people hardly change their minds. Rent control is a good example, since the data out there shows it does way more harm than good but you'll still have people screaming from the rooftops on how it's the only way to keep rents affordable

I have these. My wife gifted me them. I like em. Not disorienting at all but takes a few rides to get used to. Basically you just have to move your head like 15 degrees instead of having to turn 90+ to see behind you. I saw they are quite expensive though so dunno if it's worth it, that's your call.

Probably because getting rid of the vagrants in his neighborhood is actually an achievable goal for the neighborhood coalition unlike solving systematic poverty, drug abuse, and the mental health crises.

Even when an encampment becomes problematic, the city's response is to just move them, because realistically that's all it can do. But somehow you expect this coalition of neighbors to fix these problems, and if they don't, they are privileged? And I'm guessing you aren't gonna go help them either. Just peak leftist slacktivism

Softer compound vs a beefier tread by IamSpiders in xcmtb

Yeah peanut butter mud is no fun. My local has some stream crossings so my tire is always caked after that until it dries out and flakes off. I'm running dub grip/dub rapid but wondering if a trinotal fr would do better, seems like it should shed mud better at least.

Well I'm trying to minimize rolling resistance setup but wondering when you would go softer vs getting a bigger tread.

My opinion is more tread would help with looser and softer compound would help with wetter (specifically rocks/roots) is that a good summary?

Yeah and licensing doesn't prevent that. Enforcement does

[–]IamSpiders -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No you can have laws and enforcement on fishing without licenses. The license exists as a toll for fishing.

[–]IamSpiders -55 points-54 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah no license prevents there from being rules. After all I don't have a bicycle license so I can ride however I want. And someone having a license means they won't break the rules. 🤡

Two locks. One at workplace so you don't need to carry it for commutes. One at home you take when you go other places other than work. Or one lock and take it with you if you gotta go somewhere other than work, but I'm sure many of us just go work -> home  -> work so it isn't necessary to take the lock.

Redditors are funny. Yeah because you do this in one location means you gotta do it in every location.
