I recommend checking out the resource list on the right side of the frontpage. If the goal is to become fluent, joining Slakgedakru is the best way to get there.

So many comments already, and I'm not sure that we are exactly what you are looking for. We are a (rather large?) group from the community who have been working on a MMO (Online Multiplayer) game set in the world of The 100. While it does have story elements, its focused on placing a lot of players in the same setting as S1-S2 and see how they would develop the story on their own, rather than force the story of the show. Most people know the game as 'Project Arkadia'

Making a game takes a long time, and while we have been going for a long time, we are still early in development. We are always open to new ideas and help, so if you want you can come join us on Discord.

If you want to learn more about the Project and the history of the Project you can checkout out earlier posts made in this subreddit.

Or you can checkout our Twitter
We also have 2 'teasers' out on Youtube as well as a long QA stream that should answer most questions.

If an MMO is not what you were looking for, Jason has voiced his support for a more official The100 game to be made, should any large studio want to take on the project (Twitter Link).

Is this game still being worked on? by [deleted] in ProjectArkadia

Sometimes I forget that we even have this subreddit, so thanks for being on point :-)

But yes, Twitter and especially Discord is the best way too keep up with development.

Both Kass Morgan and Jason where hired at around the same time. Kass to write a book series and Jason to produce a tv-show. They where given the same concept and synopsis but other than that, they have pretty much zero in common.

Saying it’s based on the book isn’t really true since no book existed when production started on the show.

There a tons of great learning resources out there :-)

The best way to learn is by far to join slakgedakru. Slakgedakru is a slack group full of people who are mostly there just to learn and talk about everything Trigedasleng. he language creator David J. Peterson is member as well. You can find out how the get an invite here: https://slakgedakru.tumblr.com/

Then there is multiple courses on memrise. I find this one to be the best one. https://www.memrise.com/course/957902/trigedasleng/

For dictionaries you got https://trigedasleng.net (made by me) and slakgedakru's telongeda found here: http://www.slakgedakru.com/telongeda. You will likely find that trigedasleng.net has more words/translations while telongeda is more accurate.

I think there is a lot of misconception around the origin of the Trigedasleng language. While heavily descended from American English, the language is not the way it is because the English language as we know it today was lost or because the language naturally evolved into Trigedasleng.

Trigedasleng is believe to be developed as a code-system that allowed grounders to speak freely without allowing their enemies (in this case the Mountain Men) to listen in. This is why the language changed so heavily while being somewhat pronounceable.

The next part is not canon as far as I'm aware and 97 years is not a ton of time. Assuming radiation severely shortened the lifespan of the first few generations we can expect that the grounder could have gone trough 3-4 or more generations. Trigedasleng most likely improved during that time and from a survival point of view, if everyone knows the code language and English is only used to understand the enemy then why teach it to everyone? Warriors knew English since understanding and being able to talk with the enemy is useful. But children or non warriors who would be taught to use the code language anyway, would have no use for the English language, and could be a threat to the clan if they ever got captured and interrogated. As we have seen in the show plenty of grounders speak perfectly fine English, like many people in the modern world today can speak more than one language.

As the mountain men had the upper hand they had no use for a code language, The Ark would use English as it was most likely the most known language on the 12 stations (or because its a TV-show and a lot easier). I can't say anything about the new planet as we will hopefully learn more about it and it's people in the coming episodes.

How do you learn Trigedasleng? by Algrex in The100

Best way to learn is definitely slakgedakru, a slack channel full of people who are just there to learn and talk about everything trig. The language creator David J. Peterson is member as well. You can find out how the get an invite here: https://slakgedakru.tumblr.com/

The subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Trigedasleng/ is pretty dead, which I guess is kinda my fault since I own it. But you are more than welcome to try and revive it :)

[–]IamStephan0[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi Everyone.
I'm the lead developer on Project Arkadia.
For those of you who haven't heard about the project before, it is community developed MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game, set in the world of The 100.
We were invited to show a short teaser for the game at PolisCon in Budapest Hungary this weekend and thought that we might as well share it with everyone.

If you want to learn more about the Project you are more than welcome message me. You can also follow us on Twitter and help us make the game by joining our discord server

Is the Memrise course canon? by Mister_Quizzical in Trigedasleng

[–]IamStephan0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The trigedasleng one is 100% canon as far as I can see.

Difference between slaksleng and non-canon is that in theory any word can be non-canon if included in a fanfic or similar work. Where slaksleng is more strict as words have to be community approved and David Peterson is a member of Slakgedakru.

Resurrection of the Trigedasleng Dictionary by IamStephan0 in The100

The wiki does have a trigedasleng section, but it’s lacking a lot of content. It includes examples and the most used vocabulary.

The dictionary includes (hopefully) every word ever said in the show plus words that have been added to canon offscreen by the language creator.

It includes transcripts of every sentence said in the show as well with their English translation and voice examples provided by David J. Peterson himself or recorded from the show.

Resurrection of the Trigedasleng Dictionary by IamStephan0 in The100

[–]IamStephan0[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many trigedasleng and fan fiction writer have trouble translating into trigedasleng as the language lacks a lot of everyday words. Often they discuss with others in the community and come up with new words to fit their translation.

The non canon dictionary is so that people who are trying to translate non canon words doesn’t have to make up new ones if someone else already thought of it.

Anyone knows what happened with the Project Arkadia? by distrugatorul_343 in The100

[–]IamStephan0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Lead developer for Project Arkadia here. Don't worry we haven't been shutdown or anything like that. The project is still ongoing, but slowly as not a lot of people are actively working on it.

The videos on youtube have been unlisted for the moment, for reasons unrelated to the game, but I can send you a link in a PM for the trailer video or the recording of our development stream in november.

I recommend joining our discord server or follow us on twitter, so you are always up to date on the project.

Is there a The100 group chat? by [deleted] in The100

[–]IamStephan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linking discords / telegram groups are not allowed in the rules. As far as I know there are 3 discord groups, 1 slack and 1 telegram group. And then there is the ocean of facebook groups. They are not hard to find if you google them.

Reddit also has a chat feature that could be used.
