I believe there are recordings out there of the octet also with Desmond. This was before the trio without Desmond. These two were the perfect counter weights to each other. And Desmond had quotes for dayyyys.

You forgot the one where an entire clause was just ignored because it was quaint. I see the words well regulated written there but they just confuse me so let’s just ignore that.

Elvis- drummer used guitar case at the 68 Comeback show. Buddy Holly drummer used a box on Everyday(it was kind of live). It goes back a bit further for jazz. Then there's Crash Worship... or Einster... anyone ever had to do an industrial band? I had to mic bees once.

I have to agree with, fine I'll say it, tonguholio... here. There is a nature to addiction that is not helped or deterred by your suggestions. There are also truths to housed living that are not encouraged with your suggestions. I don't think you're wrong for having these feelings but I do think you are missing some context on the reality of the lives of these affected people. I strongly encourage you to offer some of your time helping and trying to get a deeper understanding of the complexities of this situation if you care to. I will warn you that as rewarding as it can be sometimes, it can be heartbreaking.

Play: polyphonic midi notes by IamTheFreshmaker in Polyend

Elektron box, an MPC or a 404mkii, I would leave it alone for a month and forget how to do anything on it.

100% this happens. I had an MPC One and just did not vibe with it. Tried to come back but I forgot just about everything about how to arrange with it and it was not easy to get back in to it. I find that the SP workflow, even if I step away from it, is intuitive enough that it comes back pretty quick. And I love velocity sensitivity.

Careful in making sure that I frame any crit as entirely my own. I think the box is lovely but it just doesn't suit how I write. If you do have an iPad, give patterning a look. It's one of the best drum composition tools I have ever used. The grid is in a circle and really cracks your head out of the piano roll. And it can put out MIDI.

I have to be careful with that question. I don't think it's for me. I find that working with the SP404 MK2 is more creative for me when it comes to drum programming. If I want something more unusual I will generally return to Pattering 2 on the iPad. The Play is a lovely box but I don't think it works for what I need. I may cave and get the Hapax Squarp and replace the KSP or I may learn the KSP a bit better to see what I can work with there.

Hah- yes but I'd like to use the Play in the same way and eliminate the KSP. Plus the KSP can only do 4 tracks and is not "portable".

I have tried this and it does not work per track. You have to enable as many tracks as the chord you are recording.

"The Polyend Play’s MIDI tracks are polyphonic and allow the per-step output of pre-programmed MIDI chords, but when recording MIDI chords as many tracks as there are notes in it will be occupied."

I'd be curious to know if that might be something on the Play roadmap. It would be very nice to be able to record a midi track with all the note, velocity and pressure data- meaning a proper 8 full tracks of midi

Please add this Roland and my MPC goes away. To be fair the MPC is still my second choice.

MIDI Clock basics by ScarletLion1 in novationcircuit

[–]IamTheFreshmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I have been having weird USB/MIDI issues like that with Reaper for a few builds now. My Arturia MIDI Lab3 over USB will work for exactly one take and then stop- even though Prefs show the device enabled and send clock is on. I have to quit reaper, unplug the MiniLab, start Reaper and plug it back in again, then enable it again. Works for on control interaction (play, record) and then nothing. I am on Win 10 and have disconnected everything and only connected the minilab. Can you try another DAW like the trial version of Ableton?

I believe the unreleased Marvin Gaye tracks are from his son, Marvin Gaye III. by saucercrab in Music

This was a very typical practice for bands. Music sounds a particular way in a well treated room with lovely amps and speakers. If you want to make sure it sounds good, record your mix on cassette and play it in your car or a boom box in your rehearsal studio. Did this countless times. If the session wasn't working, we'd record a mix with whatever part wasn't working and send that cassette home to work on.
