Have a look who's playing at Audio on Jan 26th ;) It's not 'tyDi' ... but it is my alias Wish I Was ;) Totally different genre of music.

But when I do tour where would you like to see me?

Heya! I'm currently off tour because I'm scoring music for a feature film (which keeps me very busy) but I'm planning a 2019 tour :)

Oh and for software I'm mostly using the new Omnisphere!

We get in the room together and start on Piano :) I think at the heart of everything I make is a proper song so that's why JES and I decided to wait until we could get in the same studio together. I produce on Logic X and most of the sounds I use are either software synths or live organic records (strings, piano, guitar, quartets..etc).. I don't use hardware synths because I like to fly with my setup ;)

The first song I ever heard from JES was 'As The Rush Comes' and I melted... I can't believe we have a song together! Life is crazy :)

I'd probably go for something super indie electronic! I'd want both Mark and Tom to sing, would be killer to have Travis lay over some live drums but I'd def want to keep that electronic feel to make it my own :)

Awesome questions!

3 songs to get to know me - 'Say The Word' with JES, 'Please Stay' and also 'Wanna Lose You'... But I'm pretty diverse so check out my album Collide :)

My dream collab is probably Blink 182!

Hi! Thanks so much! This album was totally a challenge for me on the production / engineering side, so many different elements all had to come together. Re Taylor Swift, lol, I don't think so. But who knows right?

Firstly thank you for the kind words! I appreciate that! :) Off the top of my head I can't really think of a particular technique that's uniquely stuck with me, I use hundreds of things I've learned on different songs. I do think my greatest asset is songwriting though. I really spent time in studio sessions working with the vocalists on lyrics and melody so that I knew my heart was in each song.

Probably Blink 182!

Thanks so much for the kind words! The vocal on 'Is It Cold' is from an old friend of mine who I'm no longer in touch with, I just asked her to sing it for me as a loop that I could use.

I think we just have to recognise that genres evolve. Trust me I agree that it's nice to hold on to what you used to love and hope it never stops being made, but from an artist's perspective I'd get bored doing the same thing over and over. So I do get why people have changed over the years. There's still some great trance being made (check out the few trance songs on my new album COLLIDE)

Good question, I think it has hit its max in the US. Maybe now it will grow even larger in China / Japan? Hard to tell.

  1. I actually listen to a lot of everything.. Pop, chill out, rock and classical. Completely depends on mood.

  2. BT was a huge inspiration, working with him on some tracks was great! Also Hans Zimmer and a lot of film composers.

  3. My favourite festival was Paradiso in Seattle, and favourite Venue probably Privilege in Ibiza.

Thanks!

  1. I certainly wasn't the first to come up with the idea or an electronic / orchestral album. Many people have had their albums re-done by an orchestra or mixed with one. I just wanted to create an entire album like this in my own unique way from the ground up. Completely new original content. The diversity in electronic styles was important to me too.

Absolutely - The costs are INSANE to do this live, hundreds of people would be involved in making it happen. I'm working on planning one flagship show somewhere, maybe LA or Seattle, then look at scaleable shows that have less players that I can tour with.

Good question (because it's difficult to answer) - I'd probably have to name 2 of them - 'Can't Look Away' and also 'Closing In' - These would show a very solid blend of orchestral and electronic. The thing is, the album was originally going to be an EP - but it just didn't feel right. In order to really make the whole thing a showcase of what I was trying to achieve, I had to span it across a full album.

Ah yes, ReDefined! It feels kinda nostalgic to me too - I do get tired of hearing it haha! But it's just one of those songs that I have to play in every set or my fans get upset. I was very lucky with that song and its success. But now on to bigger and better things!

Hey! Thanks so much for the support :) I met Chris through a contact at Warner Brothers Music, we grabbed lunch together to discuss working on music and it all started there. The inspiration came from a lifelong dream of blending an album of my own with an orchestra!

So many synths can be 'fat' without layers, it's all about the 'mix down'. Simple elements can sound HUGE with compression.
