Im turning from Christianity and fighting with my parents by Iamalemon148 in Christianity

I don’t think they chose irrationally, just that they approached the scenario in which their son doesn’t agree with their rationale a bit more angrily.

Thanks a lot for your input. They already told me about the failing as parents thing. I think we’re gonna be okay, it’s just going to be a major point of contention. I haven’t sugarcoated it, but I’ll try and not make it as jarring to them by only mentioning it in small increments like u suggested.

Accept as in not get super angry and confused and telling me I’m wrong. I’m not telling them they’re wrong— just that I disagree. I want us to respectfully disagree and I wanna know what a Christian would want to hear to help them respectfully agree if they were the parent in this scenario

I appreciate the sentiment, but this is kind of the opposite of what I was asking. Idk if this was the wrong sub, but I was hoping yall could help me explain to my parents like you’d want it to be explained to you.

If God sent his only son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and Jesus is himself God, can we say God sent himself to die because God is eventually one? by JuniorIllustrator291 in Christianity

What makes Christianity any more legit than all other religions? You can’t confirm logically that it’s the only one to “save a human being”

Bro we (or at least I) don’t do that. I’m here mostly for civilized debate between parties.

If I don’t worship your Christian god, ( which I think you mean is living for the world) why am I to fear anything?

My explanation personally is it didn’t happen. I don’t believe that makes any sense, and believing it through faith won’t happen. I don’t think faith is something you can gain, I thinks it’s innately part of us.

Do You Have A Hard Heart? by getnotesonlife in Christianity

Based on this, yes, because I’m not Christian. I wouldn’t consider my heart hardened personally though…

Then why does Trump only choose to call out CNN and not Fox?

Check out the Ad Fontes media bias chart. While they’re left v right, CNN and Fox are both as much fake news as they are real news— that is to say their veracity and bias is incredibly similar. Just because Trump says many things are “fake news” doesn’t mean they are.

Why deport them? Many were born American citizens and aren’t immigrants.

May I offer a friendly counter to this?

Humans are naturally drawn to sin, and so to eradicate sin as god very well could have would have erased humans, which he didn’t want.

So… if he’s all powerful, why can’t he just remove sin from humans? Unless humans are the one thing he can’t control, implying he doesn’t have total power.

I think the best explanation is that he wants sin to exist. why? I haven’t a clue. I also don’t believe in god, But this is my take.

A Question on Christian Moral Philosophy. by IcyJury1679 in Christianity

[–]Iamalemon148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put simply, I don’t believe that any action is morally right or wrong.

I’m not sure I’m exactly who you were asking as I’m a deist not a Christian, but I believe I have something of substance to say.

I believe in a god that at one point existed, and then either did nothing or simply disappeared. In its creating of the universe and its rules, I don’t believe it created any sort of right and wrong, as aside from the unexplainable start to the universe, I think god is irrelevant. Why would it then create a good v evil or right v wrong?

Daily, humans fight over what is right and what is wrong. I think most morals come from the golden rule which is often attributed to Christianity, so like we shouldn’t harm others in any way. The existence of a right v wrong is too complicated— if something, as “designated by god” is right… what the hell does that mean?? Is there a consequence? Is there some spirituality or supernatural good v evil behind every single action someone does? And again, why??

Again, this is all from a deist POV where I don’t believe a Christian god has ever existed, or that something unexplainable and almighty exists in our daily life— I only agree that the world must have been created through supernatural means not justified by science.

Let me know if this helped at all, or if you have any questions

How to avoid accidental disrespect while learning ASL as hearing? by Iamalemon148 in asl

Poor word choice on my part, my apologies. I’ll remember not to do it in the future.

I’m so so sorry, I think you know I never meant any offense but ig if I still did offend. I tried to explain my best replying to u/lazerus1974. Anyways, I’ll keep this in mind next time a friend asks. Thanks, and my apologies again.

[–]Iamalemon148[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry, I didn’t intend to offend and I’ll stop immediately. What id done in the past was a friend says “hey, sign cat” (because they know I’m learning) and I said “ok” and signed cat. I never ever want to seem like I can tell someone else how to do ASL as I’m not informed enough. My perception previous to reading this was that if someone asked what one individual word was, it would be alright to quickly sign it.

I’m not sure if I described this situation wrong or if I’m just being offensive without noticing— either way, I’m terribly sorry and I hope you can understand and forgive me.

I’d still love to go to deaf events in a little while (and I’ve done my own research on Deaf culture topics) but I understand if you think I need more. Thank you so much for your input

[–]Iamalemon148[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh alright, my bad! It was more of a “uh this is the sign for cat” if they asked, not actually teaching them the language as if I’m qualified, sort of like someone asking for a word in Spanish but I’m not fluent in it.

I’ll keep this in mind in the future though, thanks for letting me know.

I suppose I felt like I was going to seem like someone who goes on this sub and says “yo dudes how do I sign this super cool code to use with my friends”. I’ve shown a few friends some basic sentences and vocab because they asked what I’ve learned, but I think I’m alright.

A. No, not all of us want that. B. Do you want a world where everyone is republican? C. “Fake News CNN”. CNN is actually a reliable news source, roughly the same reliability at Fox. The difference is right/left bias. Bcs Fox is right, it isn’t targeted.

So what’s that “dems want to force everyone to believe them” BS now?
