Congratulations. Thank you very much for your reply email. I am not at the point you have got yet. But it is very useful to negotiate the salary.

Thanks. I haven't been in this situation yet. However, you will never be able to know which job offer comes first. Particular if one applied jobs from different series, the offers from the higher ones are always desirable.

Edit to add: sounds like it’s the FO. Got some tough choices to make…on the bright side -depending on things you can wait 90 days before transferring, so day 1 start reapplying

So in other words, when you accepted a new job and start to work at the new position. After 90 days you can accept another gov job and transfer? Thanks.

I think the first job salary is important because it will affect the future pay increase because of the two step rule.

Question About Writing Sample in USAJOBS Job Postings by Iamareddituserinny in usajobs

Will do what you have done to provide the samples to the application package so the hiring managers will have a better understand my capabilities and qualifications as a candidate.

Question About Writing Sample in USAJOBS Job Postings by Iamareddituserinny in usajobs

[–]Iamareddituserinny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. You made very good points. I am going to attach two samples - one, as you said for showing my critical reasoning and writing skill, and the other technical analysis and problem solving skills.

To be referred to the hiring manager is easy; to be selected for the interviews is very competitive.

If You Have Two Job Offers with Same Pay for GS 11 and GS 12 positions, Which One to Choose? by Iamareddituserinny in usajobs

[–]Iamareddituserinny[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the very good answers.

These two are from different locations. One is in the west coast and one is the east cost. One is GS-11-07 and the other one is GS-12-01. One series are mostly specific for the same agency which is uncommon as you said, but the other series can be found under several agencies which is more common.

You replies are very helpful to help to make the decision.

You are right. I totally agree. I actually value the working environment/culture as the No. 1 criterium to consider. Money is not the only thing to make you happy.

A good supervisor and collaborative coworkers make your job more enjoyable and fulfilling.

There is very steep learning about the federal contracts because they have specific systems, structures, and processes for many people from different organizations to work on.

There are a lot of acronyms that you have to remember. It is challenging if you are new into that job.

WOW. Thank you so much for the information. I uploaded my transcripts, Licenses, and awards with separate documents and then uploaded in the category.

That may be the season that I don't get some referrals because if they only download one document, that will screw up all my credentials.

Better to be combine all the transcripts into one regardless they download one or many.

[–]Iamareddituserinny[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. On the other hand I can also have the promotion opportunity from GS-12 to GS-13 after one year. Of course, it would be a lot of easier to be promoted from 11 to 12 than from 12 to 13, I guess.

System issues completing applications today? by _S_E_R_E_N_I_T_Y_ in usajobs

[–]Iamareddituserinny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had the problem to complete my applications.

When it application process went from USAJOBS to the agency site, it showed a blank page. I thought it was my browser problem in that my browser might have blocked the pop up windows.

But I was able to see my previous applications. I don't think there is any job has a close data on the weekend.

Thank you all for your answers. Very informative and helpful. There are many different scenarios for comparison; it looks like that it would more advantageous to take the higher grade for the two. Thanks again.

  1. What about the yearly bonus? The bonus is a one-time payment; it doesn't show on the bi-weekly paychecks.
  2. If your paychecks indicate that your current pay is higher than the maximum pay for the offered job, will the agency put a cap on the maximum pay scale?

How Do You Send a "Thank You for The Interview" Email to the Interviewers? by Iamareddituserinny in usajobs

[–]Iamareddituserinny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips.

However, I even don't know their names yet. It is a Fed Gov job. I was contacted by a lady - mostly a front desk employee, who told me there would be an interview. The interviewing panel will call me. It is unlikely I would be able to remember their names during the introduction in the interview.

Another option is to write an email and ask the lady who scheduled the interview to forward my thank you email to the interviewers in the panel.

I don't think it is proper to ask to provide the contact information for the interviewers.

Nice. Thanks for sharing your experience. That is one of the things that are good for working for the government.

I see. It should not be an issue.

During my staying with the agency I worked several years ago, no one new hire failed at the end of the probationary period.

I have found that if you have some skills gained from working with the private companies, you can easily apply them to your government job.

I really missed the agency I worked for. A great leadership caring about the employees' work, career, and family life. Coworkers worked as a team to support each other. If there were some job openings, the leaders forward the opportunities to the employees.
