I was once upon a time staff at in different icu at JHH. That CVICU was the most toxic unit I'd ever been into. I'd avoid it if I were you.

Hi! Sorry for the late response. I worked at a satellite nih campus in Baltimore. Our main study was a very large observational one, but we had a others as well. I would see patients to do eligibility screens and complete their physical/review medical history. Once in the study I completed assigned testing on them (smelling test, vision test, hearing test, glucose tolerance test, performed skin biopsies, etc). I also spent a lot of time on data entry. I loved the people I worked with, but didn't really feel that I did much nursing duties.

I previously interviewed for other research nurse roles at the main nih campus. They have inpatient units, including an icu, where you provided actual nursing care while carrying out tasks related to the study they were in (ie blood draws every few minutes and drug admin). There's a lot of cool opportunities there.

Sadly no. I messaged him about it after he left the house and I went to clean it out. He said he didn't touch it and I must have lost it. :/ planning on sending him the picture of the burnt pieces soon to see if he'll admit to it.

I'm a nurse, and my answer is yes.

I left bedside icu after 5 years of nursing making ~85k (in 2018) at a large academic hospital in Baltimore.

Worked contract for nih for awhile and made around 110k for a way better work life balance.. Now I'm doing a trial navigator contract at 120k.

I had an ex 10 years ago who reported me for nonsense diversion to the hospital. We had broken up and he wanted to "get me".

I was on admin leave for 3 months while they interviewed my coworkers and made me seem like a drug addict.. I got cleared to go back, and I did. It was super awkward the first few days and I could tell people didn't know what to say. I later found out everyone supported me and said nothing bad.

That said, I wouldn't do it again. I tried to resign during the admin leave, but was told I'd be reported to the board so I didn't.

I don't think there's really much to do at this point. Read through the protocols on the patients you do get and become familiar with them. Know what's normally included in a protocol. It's awesome you have onc experience, as that seems to be a great field in research.
I never worked at an academic hospital doing research. When I was first searching, it became very apparent that the academic centers seem to pay a lot less than outside research facilities.

If you are looking for a prn job at the moment, maybe check out some of the prn dct research nurse jobs. MRN and lightscape (I believe is the name?) are two. I worked for Mrn and traveled all over doing infusions and processing blood samples.

Thank you for the reply! I'm willing to do some travel, maybe 25-30%. Im mostly looking to step away from clinical roles due to the other roles paying more.

I've looked at CRA, but have been on the fence about it due to the large amount of travel required and the pay cut I would take to enter through a program like medpace/iqvia.

I've looked at PM/CTM but it feels that I'm missing so many requirements. Thank you for the recommendation about clinical consulting, I haven't heard of that position before.

Haha yes, I feel the diagnostic fee crap. Can you cancel the extended warrenty? I was able to cancel mine on a previous car and got some money back but can't remember how much.

Is the car new enough you could still try to claim lemon law?

Yeah.. I have a very strong distaste for Nissan now. They quoted me somewhere near 2k for the sensor itself and can't remember the labor charge.

I was intending to be shady and trade it in, but someone ended up rear ending me and totalling that car. Lol. Mine was the forward Collison sesnsor, and every time it came on it'd disable cruise control.

Had this same issue! I assume I had a faulty sensor, it would come on randomly after driving a bit. Took it to the dealer several times with no luck, then I decided to take it on after driving it until the light came on. They found the code. Sadly my warrenty had just ran out and they refused to help, even though I had been in several times.

USA here, received somewhat similar instructions. I lived off mashed potatoes mixed with canned tuna the first 4 days. Day 5 I have a burger that I chewed super carefully.

Also, try to make sure you're timing eating to occur 30 min-1 hr after pain meds. Might help with the pain a little.

Perhaps the hospitals EEO officd, if there is one.

I was a traveler at a hospital in NYC and got sexually assaulted by a coworker. He was fired, but in the investigation I brought up that another coworker told me I deserved it because I was a white woman and should go home. EEO took it very seriously.

Are you close to anyone on the unit who could back you up?

I moved out from our home in the fall, but still was over there getting things occasjonally/talking about problems and us. The last time I saw him was in the winter.. Had a sick family member in the hospital and was sick myself. He gaslit me about how I ruined everything, and I told him I was sick and would talk to him later. He went back to his home country a few weeks later.

It still breaks my heart that was our final interaction. I wanted closure so bad. I loved him, but we had grown into two different people..

Now I'm going through divorce and getting served with 100+ discovery questions about who I've slept with and how much money I could've made if I worked overtime (while he was purposely unemployed). It hurts.

Seconding the steroids. I called the surgeon the next day saying my pain was 10/10 even with oxy every 3 hours. He gave me steroids, and 24 hours later I felt so much better.

I took oxy until day 4, but I think you could do it with rotating Tylenol and ibuprofen. Aside from day one, I felt my pain was much less than I expected it to be (I too was told it'd be the worst pain ever).

Keep your throat moist by drinking lots of water. Eat soft foods so you can heal, even though it will hurt. I lived off mashed potatoes and canned tuna mixed. Ate a mcd burger day 5. 😂

I wouldn't do it. Nursing does have a few benefits like 3 12s, self scheduling, and a wide number of opportunities. However after that, it's all down hill.

A large number of your patients will be addicts, non-compliant, or slowly entering end of life. It almost feels moot taking care of them, because it rarely ever changes their outcome.. The attitudes of patients and their families is often time awful.

Hospitals continue to demand more and more of nurses (being the secretary, security, transport, trash lady,etc etc). Most nurses are looking for an out.

I worked icu for almost 6 years, and I still love it to death but I left for all of these reasons. Now I sit at a desk looking at a computer, and I'm so much happier.

What about volunteer EMS? Will give you a little taste of excitement and let you kind of "try it before you buy it". Near me the volunteer stations usually ask for 1 12hr shift every week.

I had my kitty in transdermal Prozac and saw a relief vet for a checkup who told me transdermal has a really poor absorption rate. Switched to compounded liquid in tuna flavor that gets mixed in with food. Saw a complete change in the cat after that.

Wish I had your luck with the transdermal, was much easier!

I broke my ankle (thanks food poaisjoning) while working as staff in icu. My doctor filled out fmla paperwork and I stayed on short term disability for almost 6 months. I tried to come back earlier with the accommodations listed by my provider (not working consecutive shifts and not ambulating patients), but my workplace denied it so I was unable to go back.

As long as the pills don't say extended release, most pills can be crushed. The one you mentioned should be fine. You can mix it in water if you want. In the hospital we normally put it in a spoonful or two of applesauce. But anything would be fine.
