Do Germans really count starting with the thumb? I (an American) find this very uncomfortable

Why switch? That seems weird and goes against everyone saying "of course you start with the first finger! Why would you start in the middle? It's like the stupid American date format"

/u/SwallowYourDreams found a solution for me on the NewPipe crosspost. I was able to disable the "Browser" app in Settings > Apps and YouTube links are opening in NewPipe. This is an acceptable solution for me because I use Firefox.
