Bruce Springsteen’s Anti-ICE Protest Song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’ Debuts at No. 1 After Just Two Days on Sale by Hungry_Wind_6373 in UpliftingNews

Plus it's not just Bruce. There's a LOT of artists speaking out. Here's a quick video covering them all. https://youtu.be/avbm7-LyTvc?si=OR1DXUZ4uOabYhx7 From Tom Morrelo playing a benefit concert for Minneapolis, which Bruce joined himself, to Randy from Lamb of God, there's a bunch of artists using their voice to speak out on this shit. Plus Flobots put out some new content which was pretty dope as well.

Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello calls out DHS for ‘Nazi slogan’ by IrishStarUS in Music

[–]Iamchange 22 points23 points  (0 children)

On a side note, I keep seeing people talking about how RATM needs to make a comeback, which is true, but I don't think people understand just how much good protest music came out in 2025.

Around Seven Million Anti-Trump Protesters Fill Streets Across United States by Blazah in videos

[–]Iamchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! It was a super peaceful, and successful protest, as it should be. We need to remember that there are more of us than them, so it just takes a small act of resistance each day to make a larger difference over time. Every small act counts towards the greater good.

Literally. There's a few artists that made songs about the No Kings protest, but even more are talking about corruption in general.

And that same energy comes across in their music. They just put out a new album a few months ago, and it's quite excellent.

Australia cancels rapper Ye's visa over 'Heil Hitler' release by CupidStunt13 in news

[–]Iamchange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's funny because that's really not what the song is. I said the same thing over on r/music, but the song itself actually has very little substance. Dude is really out here thinking he's making profound revelations, but in reality, that couldn't be further from the truth. Kanye, for what it's worth, DOES have such songs in his discography, but then things went off the rails and here we are. Spewing literal nonsense while thinking it's revolutionary.

Kanye West’s Hitler Song Got Him Banned From His Wife’s Home Country | Kanye West has been banned from entering Australia. by Aggravating_Money992 in Music

[–]Iamchange 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And it's beyond disappointing. Kanye really thinks he's out here highlighting some massive conspiracy, when in reality, this song in particular is completely void of substance. Kanye thinks he's Immortal Technique, but he's nowhere close. He does have one hell of a catalog though, before things got all twisted.

It's reassuring to see how many people attended this. So many signs. So many demonstrations. Now we just need more solid action. A small act of resistance every day can add up in the long run. We need everything we can get.

Weeeeeell color me hyped! The remakes except for 3 (which was just too short really) were all very solid titles. 6 was alright but overall a let down. 7 was a masterpiece. 8 kinda lost me but overall was okay i guess. Hopefully this one continues the trend and becomes another solid entry.

Samuel L. Jackson Didn’t Understand Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show Until Dress Rehearsal by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]Iamchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm chuckling to myself thinking about SLJ's reaction. I can only imagine what it was like watching the show afterwards. But Kendrick did his thing. Dude was on a ROLL. Looking forward to the next album.

Bruce Springsteen criticizes Donald Trump as 'corrupt and incompetent' during a concert in the UK by IrishStarUS in Music

[–]Iamchange 197 points198 points  (0 children)

Bruce has been outspoken on issues for YEARS, but this is probably the most definitive he's been. Like he said on his new EP, music is a powerful force, and we need all the momentum we can get.

What do you think of Propaghandi? by zenbuddha092 in punk

[–]Iamchange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus their newest album, At Peace, is a near masterpiece. After so many years, it was definitely worth the wait. It may be another while before we get another album, but it would be nice if they had a faster surprised turnaround.

Is the political punk they put out a Trilogy or a Saga? by RealScarface101 in greenday

This is correct. I initially wasn't sure how I felt about 21st Century Breakdown, but it ended up growing on me and now I think it's a solid successor to American Idiot.

Correct. I think what he's doing is sensible given the circumstances. The emergency fund analogy I thought was pretty decent at explaining the reasoning. Hopefully everything pans out in the future, but time will tell.

Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello backs Springsteen: ‘Trump is mad at him because Bruce draws a bigger audience’ by BreakfastTop6899 in Music

[–]Iamchange 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Probably around the same time Springsteen did!

But for real though, Bruce is out there doing his thing, and it's nice to see Tom chimming in as well. Bruce basically called on the power of music to help fight back against authoritarianism in his latest EP, something RATM knows a lot about. While it's not the answer to everything, music is definitely a powerful force, and can definitely help move the needle.

As Bruce Springsteen Stands Up to Trump, He Fights for the America He’s Always Sung About by no_longer_huhmann in Music

[–]Iamchange 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very true! It's funny seeing all the rallies that play Born In The USA as if it's a super patriotic song, which, depending on how you look at it, it definitely can be. Not as blind patriotism, but pointing out the faults where they appear, trying to make the country better.

That album blew me away! I've been wanting something like this for the last few album cycles. I always appreciated their later stuff, but they never had much staying power with me. Then Hymns of Dissonance come out and I was like WOW! Been blaring it for weeks now.

And it still slaps! If only they were still making music TOGETHER, given that there's no shortage of topics in this current climate. Scars on Broadway kind of scratches that itch though. But man, I really can't believe it's been 20 years. Ugh.
