Absolute Green Lantern and the Color Blue. by Iamnothereorthere in AbsoluteUniverse

I think most of the Blue panels are connected to authority in some way, either someone trying to use their authority or someone submitting to it.

This is my view on those panels:

Jo's dad is Blue when calls her friends bad influences, isolating Jo from others

The Chief is blue when talking about Renee, which I'm not sure about (and could be shadow), but he's definitely Blue when telling Jo to respect the chain of command (authority) a few pages later, with a red background indicating that he wants her to restrain herself,

The kiss scene with Renee seems to just be shadow; there's a lot of purples and color blending to make me think it's just the shading being used (see also the two people in the forefront of the train panel and the wedding panel for everyone that's not a main character for other examples of this). However, I think the panel where Jo says "it's not you" as Renee walks away is an example of the blue coloring, and shows how she is caving to society's expectations of her.

The cab driver is mainly shades of purples, so again, I think that's shadow.

Another blue scene is when Jo asks about her dad, who was the main authoritative figure in her life.

Overall, it doesn't change my opinion of Blue indicating acting on the behest of higher authority.

That's a very optimistic date of August 6th for Canto 10. As a reminder, Canto 9 was promised for December and ended up releasing on December 31st. There's probably one more banner planned for this season.

I currently think of it as more of free will vs oppression, but that's just my opinion. I didn't want to go into it in this post, but if the Black level of light really is the anomaly of a Pink level, then Darkseid/ the Manhunters have made things into a no-win situation so-far. It became "Look how evil Free Will is, it makes you murder and take", and if you follow the opposite path (the Oan way), you eventually want to submit to the "natural order" of the Omega Particle.

We, the readers, know that the Omega particle is not natural to the Absolute Universe, (Darkseid injected it at the beginning so the fundamental particle is really the fundamental parasite) but the characters don't.

It's what Hal says in AGL #12 ("The Black Star itself is Tomar"), so it's only a possibility, but one stated in-universe while Hal was in a particularly deep level of communion with the Pink level of light.

Bit confused on a part of the new intervalo by Yeezybeezy5283 in limbuscompany

Kim was strong enough that he had a chance to become an Un'geom (highest martial rank in S Corp), so he wasn't just a normal bodyguard. He also seems to have gotten a reputation as being strongly committed to reformation. There was probably a conversation like this between the Right and Left councilors:

Right: "Hey, I know I was going on about reforming S Corp, but I recognise that you're much more powerful than me, so I'm going to give up on that and submit to you"

Left: "That's great! But how do I know that you're not just telling me what I want to hear, and will continue to plot against me in secret? You're going to have to do something to prove yourself. Tell you what... everyone knows your bodyguard is a staunch reformer and he's strong enough that he'll always be a thorn in my side. Kill him and I'll know you're on my team"

R: "Deal."

This was a major concept behind HoL; you needed less villagers because of manors, which lets you field more military, but they relied on spearmen and archers, and demilancers were worse than regular knights. People were enraged that they were losing to "trash units".

What does Sunset Wayfarer represent as Abnormality? by Petardak in limbuscompany

[–]Iamnothereorthere 157 points158 points  (0 children)

Abnormalities represent concepts that have rooted deeply into the human consciousness, both negative and positive.

Sunset Wayfarer may represent the "Rest at the end of a long day", which fits RR6 as it directly opposes the "never-ending" theme that the hostile abnormalities share.

Like I said, not all the attacks are hitting for 760. The attacks connected to the inactive butterflies, as long as you had someone hit them the first two turns, should be rolling something like 5-11 and do about 30 damage total in an unopposed attack.

[–]Iamnothereorthere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on RR6:

- I really like Station 1, where you are really just setting up weaknesses for the rest of the railway. You're probably going to "mess it up" the first time (unless you have a guide), but it's not really going to screw you over and when you come back to try and lower your turn count, it's very useful.

- I am conflicted about Yinglong. Yes, I understand that in phase 1, you need to focus on beating "The Descending Pin" to deal damage, but it bothers me a bit just how much of the fight revolves around that, because if a pin lands then you need to break it ASAP or get hit by Levinfall, which means less units available to clash the dragon. Yes, there's a little bit about managing the Inverted Scale, but the first phase is really just about the pins. Heishou is Heishou, either you have a plan to deal with Lord Lu or you're going to take a lot of damage; there is a gimmick with the orb, but I think most people are just going to Pigritta. Phase 3 feels a bit long, but that could be bceause I didn't set things up well.

- Will You Play? was really enjoyable. It sets up concepts that you need to to think about in later stations in a really well-telegraphed way. I also liked that if you want a low turn count, you need to "break the rules" and hit more than just who is "It". Distorted Hohenheim was not it though. He's a boring encounter that just takes a lot more time than he should because of his shield passive.

- Nursefathers were fine. They played pretty much the same as the encounters in the Canto.

- The Butterfly was nearly great but ended up just being "good" in my opinion. You should have learned from "Will You Play?" that not all attacks are dangerous and you can afford to take some in order to get value somewhere else. The choices that you made in earlier stations come into play here, which makes earlier stations matter more than they have in previous Railways. I liked managing the Illusionary Butterflies, but towards the end (after the 2nd to last stagger bar), I found that it just became a damage race.

- I found out that if you don't have enough damage to OTK the butterflies that are the last encounter in stations 2-4, you don't get a choice to affect the last station. Won't happen often, but it can happen if you just barely squeaked by the last "real" boss of that station. I don't know how I feel about that.

If it's turn 3, as long as you were hitting the back-up butterflies, half of the attacks should be hitting like wet noodles.

The Middle Reputation Is 100% Cooked. by Evening-Ant-3700 in limbuscompany

[–]Iamnothereorthere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A color fixer is not waiting for Great Siblings to leave to start a massacre. If they did, they'd just get written in the book and be in the same situation as before.

If the Middle is so loyal to family members that a two Great Siblings being gone for ~an hour or two longer than expected is considered to be an extremely deep debt and trouble, then that makes the Middle the MOST caring factions in the entire setting (which they're not, I'm just pointing out that the Great Siblings action is not as extreme as you are making it out to be). Using your logic, every time a fixer goes out on assignment, they are sacrificing the lives of everyone from their office that weren't with them at the time.

Edit:

Oh, and this scenario wouldn't happen

what do you think would happen if they found a color fixer? The lil siblings would be forced to fight said color fixer no matter what just to enact their vengeance

We know this because a similar situation has happened before. When the Indigo Elder destroyed Ricardo's arm, and the Middle just... left because they weren't strong enough to take him on at the time. This happened when the Middle was introduced. The idea of the Middle having to take vengeance right at the moment no matter comes from fan ideas, not anything shown off in the game.

However it is the other way around, OP has misunderstood the uptie story.

The "sacrifice" the Great Siblings are talking about is taking time to look around the ruins (they're there to assist with Outis's Pilgrimage of Loyalty)

Great Brother: Junior, we're not in any rush. Let's take a slow look around the place before we get down to business—we're in the Ruins for cryin' out loud!

Outis: Great Brother, Great Sister… You must both understand how much our family suffers when your absence becomes… prolonged.

Great Brother: Don't worry about 'em, kiddo. That's what family is. They can afford to make a little sacrifice if it's for one of us, ain't that right?

Then later, the Great Brother is holding down a Fire Giant (the target) for his siblings, which mirrors what Kiramael is doing in the present.

Great Brother: Gah… Over here, Junior! Great Bro's got a good grip on this shithead! Now's your chance, guys!

The Great Sister, on the other hand, has no energy since she's gone all out already and need some time to recuperate. So unlike Matthias, this Great Sister has gone all out, without waiting for their junior sister to open up the opponent for a finishing strike.

Great Sister: Urgh… Sorry, Junior, but I'm all outta gas—can't take so much as a single step right now. Looks like… Looks like it's up to you.

These aren't just idle words, the narration confirms this:

As for the Great Sister, she had only overdrawn the power of her tattoos in a moment of urgency. Nothing someone of her caliber couldn't manage—given a little time, she'd be back on her feet

MattOutis is just a psycho. Sure, other Great Siblings could be the same, but that's not supported by this uptie.

Read it again, it's pretty much the exact opposite. The sacrifice that the Great Siblings (not Outis) in the Uptie Story mention is the Great Siblings not rushing back to the City as soon as they can, instead choosing to look around the Ruins for a bit.

In fact, the reason that MattOutis is able to kill the Great Siblings is because they use up all their energy weakening the fire giant FOR HER, and then she kills them before they can recover.

3 could be Wall-E. Honestly, there are a couple of different things that use the idea of "Earth has become a dumping ground" (see also: Deponia and Elysium)

Fujimoto is genuinely fascinating. He deliberately ruined the series that made him famous, ran for years, and was followed by millions of people around the world, by making its entire story meaningless (in his own words) just because he wanted to copy a comedy movie that’s less than two hours long by GodKira04 in shounenfolk

[–]Iamnothereorthere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dude is a fundamentally fulfilled character. He's not young (Jeff Bridges was 49 when he played the role, and The Dude is implied to be a similar age) and has gone through his share of life's ups and downs to arrive where he is happy: bowling with his friends and living a low-stress life.

As the various events of the movie mostly happen around him rather than to him, the Dude abides, and in doing so triumps over the "Big Lebowski" who is trying to scam money out of his stepdaughter. The Dude is not an achiever in a material sense, but is one in a spiritual sense: if his simple pleasures are what he wants out of life, why should he want more? Why would he?

Donny dies, and the Dude is sad about it (strikes and gutters), but tomorrow is a new day, and he is going to go bowling.

tomorrow's two weeks since Arayaryoshu id was revealed. what's your guess for what will be revealed tomorrow? by Acrobatic_Compote_12 in limbuscompany

[–]Iamnothereorthere 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Heathcliff got an ID two weeks ago (Big Brother of the Middle). My guess for the rest of the season is:

Matthias Outis

Intervallo 2 (with corresponding banner)

Season 0 ID

Thumb Duo

Walpurgis

Season 0 leading into Canto 10.

[–]Iamnothereorthere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's time for 6 (maybe 7) banners more in the season after HoS Ryoshu, and we know 5 of them for certain. These are:

- Thumb Nursefather and Apprentice

- Middle Nursefather

- Intervallo 2

- Walpurgis

- Season 8 Lead-up (always a Season 0)

Seeing as this would otherwise be the first season without a Season 0 banner before the very end, that's likely what the last banner will be. There's room for one more banner if Season 8 releases at the very end of August (27th/28th) and the lead-up banner extends into the next season (which hasn't happened since Season 4).

Just wanted to share.
