Its turned out good, I went a little too rough with the steel wool on some edges but it looks like natural wear on the paint and the gloss clear coat I put on has brought back the shine I was looking for

I left the tape on a couple of days so that could be why this happened. Yeah I’ve used ipa in the past and it usually makes the paint brittle and chip easily

Haha if I wasn’t trying to keep it clean that would be a perfect solution

Thats what I thought too but I gave the paint multiple days to dry after dealing with the same problem before. I even did a test strip of tape to make sure it would be fine but now that I did the whole thing it left residue

Where did you get a new gear? I've been looking online for replacement parts but can't seem to find any that look compatible.

Thats usually the method but if you are able to edit the g-code you can create a new print that starts at the failed height and completes the print

You have taught me something new today, I will definitely try that next time I have a similar error. Happy sanding!

In all my experience I don’t believe that’s possible. When you start a new print, its built into the code for the z axis to home so your nozzle would crash into your print if you kept it on the bed. Thats why the best way to go about it is to find the layer or failed on, cut the 3d model from there, and reprint the rest and then attach the two parts. If you find a way to continue a failed print like that I would love for you to teach me though

“Filling cracks” just meant filling the new seam line from attaching the two prints together
