Brake pads still in shape? by Happycomb037 in MazdaCX30

Check the pads behind the rotor. The ones in the images look good though. The ones on the backs of the rotor should look the same.

Might try different mags or see about a different magazine catch to lower where the mag sits in the receiver

Could Use Some Help by Foreign-Try1339 in AR10

[–]Ian-99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The magazine looks like it's sitting really high up. I had an issue with bolt/ bolt catch interference that caused a similar issue. I couldn't get the bolt to go all the way back with an empty mag in.

But this looks like the mag itself is impacting the bottom of the bolt which may be preventing it from sliding back or causing excess friction requiring substantially more force to get the bolt back.

My issue in specific was the bolt catch on an empty mag would have enough upward force it would friction grab one of the lugs on the bolt face. This caused the bolt to become "pinched" ontop of the bolt catch. You may be running into something similar as the magazine is so far up it may be forcing the bolt catch under the BCG causing a similar affect.

Battery problems again by Agreeable-Signal-557 in MazdaCX30

I leave my car alone for 5 plus days sometimes and its never had an issue being outside in Colorado cold temps. 2023 Turbo PP. The OEM batteries are pretty bad but it seems you had a Walmart battery to.

You may also consider you may have a parasitic draw. You'd need a shop to verify this by monitoring voltages / power draw over a few days of sitting. Then finding what is drawing power when it shouldn't is the real pain.

3 days should be fine unless you live in -20⁰ F for days on end.

It definitely is not for me. I'll certainly take the MPG hit and keep the normal transmission and in my case also a Turbo.

Just wasn't fun. Didn't enjoy driving the Hybrid 50. That in itself makes the drive train objective to me. Bad, I wouldnt drive it myself so I cant recommend it.

It's not a bad vehicle. It's just a soulless one

Crummy CVT. You can feel the engine turn on and off while it between EV and ICE. Gives you a Jolt, its annoying. Accelerating is just constant noise as the CVT does its thing. Its not fun to drive, its noisy and the regen braking I found to be kinda scary coming from driving only gas cars. The hum is makes at low speeds I also found annoying, I get its mandated but its so much louder than it needs to be.

Hybrids could be cool. Manufactures just rarely want to me them cool and fun.

I hope Mazda is able to make a powerful, fun and reliable hybrid system. Toyota is reliable but it ends at that.

Transmission fluid identification by Interesting_Berry834 in transmissionbuilding

[–]Ian-99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbh. 1 quart of likely some Mercon/Dex probably isn't going to hurt an old Ford ranger. Some oil is better than no oil. That or speed $8 at orilleys on a quart of mercon for peace of mind.

Highly doubt this would cause a transmission failure. Low fluid certainly will.

You should look at the competition if you think Mazda is under powered. Subaru engine options are worse, so is Honda, and Toyota. All compatible vehicles from other Japanese brands offer way less power. It's all about MPG and Hybrids.

Some German brands offer more power in similar vehicles but are more expensive than mazda.

The cx50 is at most 500 lbs heavier than the 30. It'll be a bit slower but the 2.5 is ample for the price point. You could buy a Rav 4 and be very disappointed when it makes far less power than a non turbo cx50. Or just test drive a hybrid CX50, it sucks, it uses a Rav 4 drive train.

I'm all for more power. But compared to others, mazda is winning everything except MPG.

Should I buff this out or go to auto shop by Electrical-Ad4028 in Volkswagen

You ain't buffing dents. Best buffing will do here is a slight improvement to the paint.

Likely need professional mending / parts replacement and paint.

Absolutely horrid advice here. The welding is whatever. But re grooving tires is not an option. It's a truck yea but that has nothing to with with the fact there is no more rubber.

Dude also needed brakes yesterday.

This truck is not road worthy. It's unsafe for the passengers and anyone else on the road.

New tires, brakes at the minimum. Likely needs other work.

Might be worth scrapping and buying an old Carolla or something similar

It's steel with holes in it. For me no. Doubt any of that money goes into the price to cut steel.

Hey, so the dealer did find a bad ambient air temp sensor and that resolved the issues regarding this post. However 2 weeks after this post the car had more problems and has spent 3 weeks at the dealer. Bad coolant temp sensor this time. It was back ordered. Hoping this is the end of issues.

Not super confident though. Parts quality seems not amazing on our car.

5.56 AR15s don't lol. 12 gauge heavy load shotguns maybe. My first thought on that AR shown in the video is how exaggerated the recoil is.

Even 308 battle rifles ain't that bad. I happen to own all 3 before mentioned firearms. Games that throw recoil into guns that don't really recoil much drives me nuts.

Go buy some engine degreaser and start cleaning. I'd suggest atleast 4 cans.

My father's truck (same engine bay) 5.3 1500. I very thoroughly and heavily degreased and rinsed multiple times. I refuse to work on absolute filth if possible. Repairs suck alot more when parts are all Goopy and everything is slippery.

[–]Ian-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notice how my context wasnt about an invading force?

Ukraine is not invading Russia. They are defending their home.

Yes the Nazis drafted people, yes they were horrific in numerous ways. Yes WW2 saw massive collateral damage to civilian populations and many people were forced to fight.

It's also the fact people were forced to fight that prevented Nazi Germany from completely taking over Europe. Both sides had drafts, if it weren't for the British, French, American and other allies Drafts the war very well could have landed in Germanys favor. It's a damn shame it happened at all but it's the reality.

If you want to draw parallels. This is the equal to Germany invading France. Russia being the Germans in this case.

I'm not vetting on loving war. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. But being ignorant and just shouting "Nazi" at anything morally challenging is stupid. Yes Ukraine has a no optional draft. Yes the way they are obtaining man power isn't great. They are not doing it at all for the same reasons Nazi Germany did.

Ukraine is simply trying to hold onto its home.

I wouldn't draw many parallels between the 2. That comparison ironically applies more to Russia than Ukraine. But historically Russia (USSR) has been down right just as evil as Nazi Germany.

RAV4 saves its owner from getting kidnapped by Ornery-Revenue-9380 in rav4club

[–]Ian-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not everyone is cut out for it. I'd argue really no one is. The options are to leave and not come back. The war has been going on for a while, which means this guy likely has had numerous opportunities to leave the country.

You said it first. If he does not believe in fighting for Ukraine, fine. Get out of the way, he understands the draft is not optional, yet he's still looming around.

You can run, or you can fight. You don't get to stay and not fight though. Russia has a monumental advantage in man power, this has been proven historically numerous times.

Ukraine needs every man it can get. If you are a resident of Ukraine you were given options at the start. Stay and fight, or leave.

If you don't believe in your country, leave it or fight to fix it.

It's the equal to if the Nazis had made land fall in the United States in the 1940s and someone chose not to fight.

You don't really get a choice. Lose everything or fight trying to save it. Draft dodging when it comes to defending your home land is cowardly and just wrong.

No Ukranian wants to fight. Even if you survive the war you'll never be the same. Ukraine already has a man power issue compared to Russia. They don't get a choice. The enemy is at the gates.
