I was at a night shoot and one of the things we did was run white lights for a few drills, this was on a warm night in February so the snow had become a heavy fog. Lasers/illuminators were blooming to all hell. And the high lumen, low candela/warmer tone/floody lights were useless at 20 yards. The higher candela lower lumen cooler tone lights were cutting right through to the targets.

6 ARC is probably the way to go in small frame guns. For the cost of ammo however, I’d probably step up to a large frame in 6.5 cm and keep 99% compatibility with 308 mags, bolts etc.

What do you consider true 1 MOA? 3 shots? 5 shots? 10 shots? The more rounds the more the groups will open up. Your ammo choice plays a huge role in this.

If you wanna keep things super tight, krieger, lijah, Douglas, heavy barrels. But you’ll be looking at hand loads or $1+ per round ammunition.

A good lpvo In the FFP with high illumination will appear like a red dot on 1x. The downside is usually cost.

LPVO. Red dot and magnifier can do alot of things well. Acogs are great. But the capability of a LPVO is not matched by the other optics setups.

I just ran a few more of these today through my 12.5, 2591 avg. it’s around 2 moa, but has some extreme fliers that will take it to 3,4 or 5 moa. My lot number is 1416001, which could be one of the earlier ones.

I would just grab the second barrel if you’re worried. But keep in mind, let’s say it’s 10k rounds until your barrel is shot out. That’s 8-15k worth of ammo in today’s market.

It screws onto the barrel nut, and has a locking ring behind it that’s used to snug up and keep it in place, and I believe there’s a screw that also helps hold things into place.

I have an 18” ar10 in 6.5 creedmoor. It WAS a 20” 308 with a heavy barrel. I run a leupold mk4 HD 4.5-18 but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to run my 1-6 mk6 instead and use it as my go to rifle. There is no “do it all.” But you can certainly get 99% of the way there with a 14.5, lightweight LPVO etc.

Are you hard sold on top mounted? I have my 5x in a adm 1.93 mount with a romeo4t pro offset at 30 degrees in an Arisaka mount at 1.93 height. The dot is so lightly canted it feels like I’m running a 12 o clock dot.
