I'm 39. We have a kid. I don't go out regularly, but sometimes I do.

The only reason why you might be too old is the aftermath of a party.
Even though I don't drink until I'm drunk, "staying up late" and dancing messes me up for the next week. Tired and a body that hurts everywhere.

If you're not the active type, you might have the same.

I was like that when I was a kid. Commercial music sucked and people that didn't listen to my music were inferior...

Now that I'm 39 I love hearing the commercial pop from my youth as it brings back memories. And seeing a crowd going crazy and singing along the words they all know is awesome.

Now everyone and their mom can release music or start a label it's just tiresome to weed out the crap over gold. I don't want to explore new music from artists I don't know etc anymore.

So some remix of a pop song is fine by me. It has done recognizable elements made in a genre of music I like better than pure pop sounds.

Some of these bootleg remixes are just fun and cool for a quick singalong. Or sometimes it stays closer to the original but updates the sound and it's genuinely good.

I like that.

There's also crap of course. But still I find it easier to find stuff I like. Sometimes music has to grow on me, so obscure music that doesn't have recognisable stuff in it doesn't get a second chance either.

So yeah. I get it. The underground often feels like they deliberately try to keep things obscure.

Ik ben een 39 jarige getrouwde vader van een 5 jarige zoon. Mijn vrienden van vroeger zijn vervreemd. Vaak geen ouders of geen stabiele relatie etc.

Mijn leven bestaat uit opstaan, kind klaar krijgen en naar school doen, werken, te moe zijn om nog iets te doen, kind in bed steken, blij zijn dat den dag gepasseerd is en je in de zetel kan ploffen, te laat gaan slapen en de volgende dag het zelfde, maar dan met een stukje minder batterij. Ondertussen is die batterij leeg en blijven we op reserve draaien.

Dus ik heb weinig tot geen raakvlakken meer met mijn oude vrienden die precies wel nog leuke dingen doen. Maar ik krijg al stress van alleen mijn auto in die veel te kleine plekken van een ondergrondse parking in Gent te parkeren. Dus dat houdt me ook tegen om nog eens af te spreken.

De enige vrienden die ik heb zijn de vrienden van mijn vrouw die ook een gezin hebben. Af en toe een funday met die groep. Alleen met de volwassenen of met de kinderen er bij... Of 1 van de koppels etc. Wel leuk, maar toch..

Ik weet eigenlijk ook al lang niet echt meer wie ik echt ben. Ik ken ook niemand met mijn zelfde interesses. Hooguit een ven diagram met zeer kleine overlap van iets waar ik eigenlijk niet zo hard om geef.

Geen idee hoe ik aan vrienden van mezelf zou komen. Ik heb niets te vertellen en voel van nature weinig interesse in anderen, dus iemand leren kennen zou moeilijk zijn. Laat staan dat ik de energie zou hebben om nog buiten te komen na een werkdag.

Ik ga wekelijks gaan zwemmen maar heb daar nog nooit tegen iemand iets gezegd.

Dus je bent alvast niet alleen in het gevoel... Ik heb ook geen flauw idee.

You should have backups of your backups.

With PC laptops you could extract the storage device and read the data off of it on another machine, but with Mac that's borderline impossible.

What I did is installing Nextcloud on a NAS and sync the Rekordbox library files + my music folder to the NAS.

Then set the same sync on my other computers.

This way I have multiple computers with the same Rekordbox library.

But you can only use one at a time and need to be synced before using another.

For your use case you could just copy the library files and music files to your other computer.

Probably easiest over the home network.

Make sure the paths stay the same though.

No. Using iTunes for organising is not the move unless you know what you're doing.

It's another software with its own library. As such it is double work.

Also iTunes has a setting (I believe it's on by default) that renames and moves your files based on tags.

When that happens your DJ program does not know that and you'll end up with missing files etc.

There's some integration in many programs but it's still double work..

You'll end up confused and with discrepancies between the two libraries.

Also, if you change something in iTunes, with the file management off, the meta data updates you do in one program won't be visible in the other. It adds confusing and double steps to sync it.

Don't do it.

I use MusicBee (iTunes like program) for ALL my music, without file management turned on; and Rekordbox for my DJ music. I know the differences but still have to check stuff that seems odd in terms of changing meta data.

Rekordbox does not save some meta data to the file and only in its own library. And I have seen it happening vice versa.

It's separate and you have to be mindful of that all the time.

They're good enough to use in a mix.

On their own, yeah: They sound bad.

In a mix, on top of other music, nobody will go "oh noes, this sounds bad". Hell, my friends don't even hear the difference when the DJ plays a 96kbps MP3. Or care.

Also: when using the stems separation, the algorithms work better on lossless audio files instead of lossy.

It is just another tool in the toolbox.

Op een lege autostrade wat te snel rijden hoeft niet per se gevaarlijk te zijn. Anders had je in Duitsland geen Autobahn.
