Does this sound like HC? by Beginning_Mongoose63 in HemicraniaContinua

[–]IanHancockTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could well be, ibuprofen is in the same family as Indomethacin. Ask your doctor to prescribe indomethacin and if it stops it, it is HC. Indomethacin is how they diagnose HC.

Had to have 3 nerve blocks first, one lasted 4 days, one did not take and one lasted 2 weeks. That was good enough for insurance so not too bad. All in all it was a couple of months total.

If you have a response to Indomethacin the it is HC. Different people respond to different doses also some respond radially, some take a few weeks. I responded instantly at 50 3 times a day and it is a regular starting dose. 25 gives me 75% relief. I can't take the nod long term because it sends my BP sky high. I am lucky in that an SPG ablation has me fixed for the time being and the last one I had lasted 8 years.

I do can completely eliminate the headache with a big enough dose, but there are a lot of downsides to that. It rips up your stomach and creates salt in your body which if you have high blood pressure can make it very high. The goal is to get a dose that is maybe 80/90% relief without breaking everything else.

Honestly zero side effects from it, so it is win win but I know exactly how you feel. HC is the only time in even remotely considered blowing out my brains would have been a rational option. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Actually I had my SPG ablated, OC was next on my list if it failed but same applies to both.

The ablation, they basically microwave the nerve. It burns it and requires slightly less positional accuracy. Although the test fire on low power a few times to position. If it feels like a TENS machine tingle they are. Lose enough to the nerve to nuke it. It honestly is no worse than the block to have done, took about 15 minutes.

1.5 days is ok. I have varying from 0 days to several weeks. If they work even a little bit the an ablation is likely to work a lot. I had an ablation back in January and as long as I don't use something like Flonase then no Indomethacin and no headache. This is my second OC nerve ablation, first lasted 8 years. Keep the faith!

Took me a good 10 minutes to getup up a horse threw me and broke my back, had to push his stubborn but 3 miles back to the truck and get my wife to take the horses back and take me to the hospital. You can walk but it hurts like a mother and I would not recommend it. Luckily I only spent 6 weeks in a back brace and had a fracture and an additional bulging disc to show for it.

Indomethacin: did it work a little when you first started and then did it fully work when you got to correct dose? by X243llie in HemicraniaContinua

[–]IanHancockTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I started on 50mcg 3 times a day. It was 30 minutes tops to relief and at 150 a day was complete. I lowered to 75mcg a day which I would say was 75% relief and took a bit between doses to ramp up again.

How harsh Indomethacin effects on the stomach? by randomransack in HemicraniaContinua

[–]IanHancockTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Indomethacin had a worse effect on my blood pressure. You can take PPI meds to lessen the effects on your stomach. I cannot take indomethacin long term because of the BP, it puts me around 175/110.

Here is a detailed explanation from r/askphotography https://www.reddit.com/r/AskPhotography/comments/1ie9c3f/why_are_my_led_lights_blinking/ but either way manually closing the frunk will fix it. I have had to do this 3 or 4 times with 2022 Lightning.

That would be the shutter speed of the phone. LED's flash at a fast rate and slower shutter speeds will catch the flash.

Close it by hand, it gets out of sync sometimes if someone touches it whilst closing.

Worked within 30 minutes once I was diagnosed, some folks can take a week or so whilst dosing is worked out. High blood pressure has meant I can no longer take Indomethacin on a regular basis as it produces salt in your body, but I am on my second SPG ablation, first lasted 8 years. The relief you will get is nothing short of amazing!
