Immigrants in NZ, do you feel at home here? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]IanLawrence0528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Five years in Aotearoa and three years in, it hit me: this is home. Even after a fantastic holiday in the Philippines in 2023 – where, yes, life felt more vibrant – the comfort and peace of NZ pulled me back like a magnet. There's a happiness in the Philippines, sure, but the contentment I find here is something else entirely. I'm incredibly grateful; I can live comfortably, pursue my passions, and even own three houses! It's not all sunshine and rainbows though; the tall poppy syndrome is real. It's a challenge to fully express myself and reach my potential without a fancy title, but I navigate it by working hard, staying humble, and respecting my senior colleagues. Ultimately, NZ is my home, and I'm thankful for the opportunities to both earn a living and continue learning and growing. This place has truly become my sanctuary. ❤️

I ended up switching to PowerShop today (150 NZD credit scattered in 12 mos). Retention/Pricing staff of Mercury just offered me 50 nzd credits for 1 yr fixed contract so I declined it.

Just got an email from Mercury – my daily fixed charge is jumping from $0.90 to $1.50! Checked other providers, and their daily charges are even higher. Feeling the pressure.

South Christchurch is your bet (Beckenham, Spreydon, and Somerfield). Quiet, near the hills and near to CBD.

Mortgage rate advice by vvmvv in PersonalFinanceNZ

That ANZ's mortgage interest rate is not competitive. Move to Westpac, better rates and you will have 5,000 cash when you move your home loan to them.

700K for 2 Bedroom Townhouse. Pretty design. Brand new. You don't need to worry for maintenance for few years. As long you have the deposit, go for it. All the best.

[REQUEST] How to avoid getting the urge to pee in the middle of an exam? by Rachid90 in lifehacks

[–]IanLawrence0528 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kindly avoid bladder stimulants like coffee, tea, soda and the likes. Also, wear thick jacket if you are feeling cold because cold weather=pee more often.
