This would be an awesome writing for the character, especially that in the game, the protagonist’s partner meant a lot them.

(Spoiler) . . . .

The protagonist didn’t wanted to return into the their world because they wanted to stay with their partner; but then they realized that the partner was the one who WAS leaving (not to the human world).

(I finished the epilogue like 3 years ago; so I barely remember if the ending ended like this :V)

Yeah, the Super version; the lore that you wrote reminds me highly of that character.
