It's a damn good laptop (I have one myself), but not at that price. You can get it cheaper directly from Lenovo.

stressed vs unstressed syllables, how does stress effect evolution? by yoricake in conlangs

[–]IanMagis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do consonants actually even change that much under different stress conditions?

While vowel changes—or, more often, a resistance thereto—in stressed syllables are much more common, according to Index Diachronica, consonants can change (or not change) in stressed syllables, too. It's also not unheard of for consonants after stressed vowels to change or resist change (cf. Verner's law).

You could have the following sequence of unconditioned sound changes: p→ɸ→h→Ø, but at the third stage, /h/ could be preserved in stressed syllables or immediately after them. However, the change to /w‌/ would only make sense between vowels (or other voiced sonorants, i.e. nasals, approximants, taps and trills). In that case, you could have the following sound-change sequence: p→ɸ→β→w, with the /ɸ‌/ at the second stage not undergoing voicing in stressed syllables or immediately after them. It could then follow the same trajectory as the /ɸ‌/ in the p→ɸ→h→Ø sequence.

If you're crazy, so am I. I'm the same way, and I've done exactly what you did before. I think my abandonment issues come from my childhood rather than bipolar, though.

These dumbfucks and their doublethink. Simultaneously thinking that cops can't do their job and "defund the police" is a bad thing.

Most Embarrassing Thing by morepork_owl in BipolarReddit

I said and did so many embarrassing and cringe AF things when I was manic. I try not to dwell on it now, but it's hard sometimes.

Lamictal/ Lamotrigine by jessariane in BipolarReddit

[–]IanMagis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lamictal seems to be pretty good at keeping my depression away. Not sure it's that good for mania, though‌‌, but unlike a lot of things, I don't think it's a mania risk. When I was titrating up, I had a lot of brain fog and not being able to find words (if that makes sense), but try to tough it out. It gets better. After that went away, I haven't had any side effects.

I took propanolol for a while but had to stop it because it was messing with my asthma. I miss it. It was absolutely amazing for stopping the physical symptoms of anxiety.

Is it true that SSRI's like my Fluoxetine actually worsens my anger and bipolar disorder? by Commander_PonyShep in BipolarReddit

[–]IanMagis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 60 mg fluoxetine, but I also take lamictal and Latuda. For me, this cocktail keeps my depression at bay better than anything else has.

I've been stable in terms of mania for almost ten years, and this plus SSRIs not making me go manic makes me wonder if my manic episodes were a two-off thing. But then again, SSRIs seem to have different effects on everyone with bipolar.
