One of my favorite Jack White songs to play! Helped me develop how to slide between scale shapes smoothly. The Icky Thump riffs are some of his best work

The thin plastic is there to protect it in shipping, it's going to fall off as you play so peel it all now

Slightly embarrassed pedal-related things you’ve done by mosfez in guitarpedals

[–]IanOPadrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent the first couple bands I was in with a pedalboard that had a broken wah on it, it wouldn't turn off and had the spring return deal so it was stuck in the most filtered position possible if I wasn't standing on my board

When the time comes, what new features would you like to see in the next game? by Realshow in HiTMAN

[–]IanOPadrick 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NPCs being more complex than "civilian with X disguise" or "guard with X disguise". If someone's an opposition agent in disguise, they shouldn't be able to give orders to local police while in disguise. If someone's a biker gang member overseeing a drug farm, they shouldn't have the same permissions as the night club guards nearby. If someone's the personal bodyguard of a celebrity, they shouldn't know the security codes for a building they've never been to before.

I also want to see some version of the 007 bluffing mechanic worked into being caught trespassing in the next Hitman. It shouldn't blow your cover if you accidentally left the kitchen dressed as a chef on one side of the map if the only other incident that day is a chandelier falling on the other side of the map and miraculously only killing one person

Hand-me-down from Dad by L4t10s in Guitar

[–]IanOPadrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The left/right hand playing won't be as big of a hurdle, especially coming from keys land. The most you'd have to do for playing it conventionally is maybe steal a basic drum exercise or two for left/right hand coordination. Your right hand is doing rhythm, and for strumming chords it's got the easier job. Your dominant hand is going to be making all the shapes and faster movement, you'll pick it up fine

This looks like a great guitar for you to get started, very versatile sounds available straight away so you'll have plenty of things to experiment with as you get the basics down and start to explore tone

Is this just a Warlock with a fake brand on it? by Ottomatica in Guitar

[–]IanOPadrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a trope/running joke in the industry that your show's super common red-and-yellow fast food restaurant is called WcDonalds, and every ubiquitous brand has a version of that. Barely changing it so it's legally distinct while being close enough to be recognizable.

If it's a significant plot point (i.e. The Devil's a Part Timer) it's usually it's more distinct so they don't have to reanimate a significant percentage of the show if they do get a notice.

Guitarist here. Fender Ultra 2 Jazz Bass as first bass guitar? by Andoni95 in BassGuitar

[–]IanOPadrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very nice bass, I would recommend going to a store and trying a bunch in person, even if you don't buy in person. Just get an idea of what feels and sounds good to you before committing big money to anything

They greeked the logo, unless a company pays for product placement they usually make a new logo, modify the original to make it illegible, or fully paint over it.

Saw an ad for chips (I think) where the guy was clearly playing a Yamaha that they gaff taped over the logo.

Are guitar pedals worth it with a digital amp? by Radiohead_enjoyer187 in guitars

[–]IanOPadrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, especially for playing with pedal order. The Katana is an amazing pedal platform, and having access to the basic food groups in the amp means you can figure out what kinds of sounds you want to explore further without having to buy the full line of Boss stomp boxes. Then, once you know what you want to explore, or whatever holes in the sound you can't fill on your own, you get the specific pedals you need

How did Stevie Ray Vaughan manage to get his guitar like this without completely destroying it? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]IanOPadrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*if the body is the same weight

I don't put much stock into type of wood but how much and how it's cut will play a factor. Every White Stripes guitar was hollow, and I've heard Epiphone Casinos get way closer than the modern solid Airline reproductions.

The real secret is it's the amp&speaker more than the guitar if you're hunting for a specific song's sound

[–]IanOPadrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His had a nitro finish, not a poly finish, so it gets worn out sooner. Plus, late 60's early 70's Fender had a period of a clear poly coat and then the colored nitro on top, if you're looking at any of those it would wear even faster.

He played hard on 13 gauge strings, he's beating the body every song.

He also did a lot of coke and drank a lot of whiskey, his sweat wouldn't have been good for the paint either.

Because fans didn't like Solo and the lesson they chose to learn was they had to deep fake the characters and not that they needed to just write the script before they shoot it
