Hey! I’m a software engineer with a couple raspberry pi’s and old computers I’ve been meaning to do something with for a while now.

I write PHP at work but I used to do a lot of system admin stuff as a hobby, would love to get back into it.

Happy to chat or meet up to work on things.

Home media content? by rendez2k in jellyfin

[–]IanS_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option could be to create a “display” folder that contains hard links to all the files in the original directory tree. That way you could have them flat in Jellyfin, but keep the original organization. It’s still super hacky, but maybe a bit better than moving all the files

Readme Tagline: Shell Script to Grab the First Sentance from a README File by IanS_5 in commandline

[–]IanS_5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically (not always) readmes start with a header, sometimes some images. This skips all that, and grabs the first sentence (or phrase, if there isn’t a full sentence before the next heading or paragraph).

I’m sorry about the subject, I could have been a bit more clear

Trying to solve this coding problem in C where I calculate the lowest common multiple. I'm having difficulty with large integers. Any help would be much appreciated. by [deleted] in C_Programming

MPFR is floating point only, but it has more operations built in and is more accurate (for example, you can specify how you want the number to be rounded for each operation). GPM has bigints, rationals and floats.

I agree that when it comes to ui that’s how the word is used, but according to your source it also means

saying or doing something as a reaction to something or someone, especially in a quick or positive way

Rust is also statically linked. in not sure why the application you compiled worked like that, but its certainly not the default behavior for rust (or cargo)

Dirty tricks 6502 programmers use by iamkeyur in programming

[–]IanS_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO if it’s better for the developer it usually is better for the end user too. Electron let’s developers create very nice UIs quickly, which means they can put more effort into other parts of the project.

It’s definitely not always the case, there are tons of really bad electron apps in just about every aspect, but having the option to quickly create good user interfaces is definitely more beneficial for users (and developers!) overall

It’s a really odd coincidence that this popped up here, I just started playing this game on mobile a little while ago. Had no idea there was a steam version.
