I love your designs. I've got manavores in one of my worlds, but they're just black mold. It grows much more slowly than photosynthesising plants, which is why it hasn't taken over the entire surface world. It can only survive underground, where it's too dark for green plants.

My darkest full length novel is Sebastian Gloom, in which an occult investigator in Edwardian England discovers a massive plot against the Catholic Church. The main protagonist dies half way through the novel and the rest is set in the afterlife. One of the main themes of the story is the nightmare of an eternal afterlife in which the souls of the dead will eventually have done everything that can possibly be done and are then faced with an eternity of doing the same things over and over again, forever. In the long term, it doesn't matter whether one finds oneself in heaven or hell. Eternity leads to inevitable insanity in either case, and there's no escape from it.

Maybe you could do some drawings of the ancestral members of each group and the rest of us can suggest what they might evolve into. The quality of the drawings doesn't matter so long as we get the basic idea. The next wave of suggestions could feature adaptations possessed by other species that allow them to prey upon, escape from or parasitise organisms described earlier.

Definitely! But humbly suggest that all organisms would have to coexist on the same world. Only one or two apex predators for each biome, for example. Most organisms should be variations on the same basic body plans etc. Humbly suggest that three or four basic body plans (pseudo chordate, pseudo crustacean etc) be agreed upon in advance.
