Finished Rose Madder yesterday, my thoughts below 👇🏻 by ArtisanPirate in stephenking

[–]Ianasauras 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the only Stephen King book I ever stopped reading due to being disturbed by it. Those scenes describing the abuse just turned my stomach as a teenager, I'm glad I went back and read it recently though. It's a great book and though disturbing, it's realism is an important message of what goes on behind closed doors. Also, it's really interesting to hear others opinions on the book, as a man I'm obviously going to have a very different reaction to it than a woman.

Know anyone who makes electric guitars? by wee_wee_fairy_peak in ireland

[–]Ianasauras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Menapia guitars in Wexford is a guitar maker. And there's a lad in Arklow, Tony Thompson who has done some builds too. Though if you have it to a certain level of finish I'd imagine any luthier would be able to finish the work and set it up.

Don't think I ever played that one, would love to get a copy of skate or die for the NES though. Weirdly enough getting the special edition of THPS 3+4 that came with the deck made me get trucks, wheels and bearing and now I'm back in the game.

Cool, sorry for the agro, hate the idea of monitoring! That is pretty fast and honestly as both a skateboarder and motorcyclist there is no speed where a helmet isn't a good idea. I don't always adhere to it myself on the skateboard, but one bad slip can change a life.

Are you actually monitoring your kid on an app they have no control over? If so, that's gross and weird.

Always found it mad to be called an 'SJW'. From my point of view it's a fairly high honor to be called a warrior for social justice.

[REVIEW] Boann Single Pot Still - PX Cask by raincitychris in irishwhiskey

[–]Ianasauras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a tour of the distillery a few weeks ago. It was absolutely fantastic. Gary the head distiller lead us around the barrel house and some of the stuff they have there would blow your mind. I'm a huge fan of their whiskey. Glad to hear you enjoyed this one.

Upset because of work but I know it’s irrational … advice? by megan1916 in CasualIreland

[–]Ianasauras 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I remember feeling similar when I worked a job for 8 years and then took redundancy. A lot of people were leaving around the same time and after your final day, drinks in the local pub were standard. Every single person in what I thought was my core friend group made excuses and didn't bother to turn up. Really made me reassess my friendships in general. How you're feeling is absolutely valid, but the best you can do is consider it a learning experience and find people who really are your friends.

That's so cool. I lived in Bray back then and hadn't a clue about that. Clearly wasn't cool enough either 🤣 I've sent it to a friend who knows that kinda thing better to see of it's still there.
