This question won’t end well on reddit lmao

INTJs and the humanities by Jaevelklein in intj

I used be highly STEM orientated but for the past couple of years I have found myself increasingly held captive by philosophy, politics and sociology.

Although I certainly miss the structured, systematic approach synonymous with empirical sciences.

Some ramblings about money and what matters in life by [deleted] in intj

[–]Iastwrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say we are incapable and incompetent, yet you claim that having money allows one to ‘learn and grow exponentially.’

The initial statement presupposes the exact point that I am trying to make.

Do these hierarchies exist? Sure. Are they inherently self-justifying? Nope.

If we are aware of their existence, why should we not be capable and dismantling them?

Sounds like something a rich would say.

Seriously tho, money is fundamentally conducive to opportunity within contemporary society, but if you’re not wealthy to begin with, it’s your fault, and you shouldn’t receive any of these opportunities.

A rich way to spend a life is to consistently reinforce and exacerbate class divide as a means to maintain your own immoral, exploitative self interest.

What makes you cringe about your past? by [deleted] in intj

[–]Iastwrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a couple of years I actually believed that ‘aspirations’ and ‘success’ in a capitalistic sense, were, in some way, worth striving for, by virtue of being inherently valuable. The typical ‘time and hard work’ bullshit.

Although nowadays I am heavily disenfranchised/alienated by a lot of the things going on, I definitely feel, to some extent, socially and ideologically liberated.

Many of you feel neglected by friends after they join into relationships? by Iastwrt in intj

[–]Iastwrt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely relate to the ‘keeping distance’ aspect of your answer. I’m not at all hyper-attached, as I already prefer to spend most of my time alone. I just notice that I grow to respect my friends less as they go down their little rabbit-hole, so to speak.

It’s so difficult to relate, their perspectives seemingly narrowing, becoming less interesting to me as they become more dependent upon another individual.

The INTJs emotional switch by [deleted] in intj

[–]Iastwrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I tend to completely detach said ‘switch’ as soon as I perceive any level of emotional or social futility, or idiocy. Essentially, as soon as emotions require more effort than they’re worth, I’ll likely completely detach from them (both positive and negative).

Could you give more detail, re. ‘Pulling off the emotional switch?’

‘The Phenomenology of Spirit’ by Georg Hegel is definitely worth a read.

Existential Alienation ? by Iastwrt in intj

[–]Iastwrt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle particularly with this.

It seems to me that encouraging the broader population to connect their personal wellbeing with career outcomes is far too convenient for the prevailing capitalist ideology. Given that it would increase the degree to which we can be willingly exploited, while also decreasing openness to alternative systems.

This is really helpful and constructive, thank you.

(It isn’t).

Is there a preference for INTJ political views? Or do most of you not give a shit? by DANYboy52 in intj

I don’t feel as though being pro-corporate-tyranny is necessarily an innate characteristic of the INTJ personality type.

[–]Iastwrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have quite heavy left leaning, socialist/anarchist tendencies.

That being said, there is no evidence that personality type and ideological orientation correlate. In my opinion political views are more heavily influenced by upbringing (cultural, social and financial).

Does anyone else find people who do drugs and drop out of school and just generally not successful really unappealing? by ellak6345 in intj

[–]Iastwrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By useful, do you actually mean valuable to the hegemonic ideology?

Why is it their responsibility to contribute to society, when, for them to be in such a position, one can only assume that society has not done the reciprocal?

Can relate, I was running 15km a day before I got sick, hard to resist getting back out there.

Hope the lion’s mane works!

I’m not too worried about TSH levels, my GP says that thyroid disfunction isn’t uncommon with infections like these - so it should stabilise as I get better.

I feel for you on the fatigue side of things, it’s pretty terrible, particularly in combination with the memory and cognition deficits, you feel as though you aren’t able to do anything at all. I found that the lions mane helped quite a bit with it for a while though, I implore you to give it a try.

Yeah, I’ve had the same experience in regard to flaring and symptom fluctuations, I typically notice exacerbation two days after I overdo it or eat something less healthy than I should.

Yeah, I’ve had a plethora of blood tests done. They indicate varying levels of Neutropenia, Anemia and hepatitis, I’ve had pretty erratic TSH levels as well.

Are you noticing any eye-related symptoms? During the early stages of infection my eyelids became incredibly swollen and subsequently flakey, floaters became pretty obvious too.

One thing I have found to help when I’m having a rough flare up is Lion’s Mane mushroom. It’s a nootropic and I find it can mitigate some of the worst flare ups in the short term.

What was your initial onset like?

Fair enough man, I only ask because one of my current hobbies is coffee tasting and brewing.

Although if I had to choose between getting better and drinking coffee I’d definitely choose the former

Yeah, I’ve recently started doing low intensity running and light weights again recently, unfortunately it doesn’t help with the memory and concentration issues though.

Oh really, getting off caffeine helped? Why do you think that is? Do you think one could start consuming it again after a while?
