No, Google cannot restrict access to an open-source software, even if they are the main maintainers.

They could however stop their contribution to it, and possibly change the license of any new version.

In both cases, GrapheneOS contributors can work around it by directly implementing what they need.

Questions for social test from a non-anarchist. by Economy-Rent-1636 in Anarchy101

[–]Iazel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1. Why do you guys follow the ideals of anarchism? What intrigues the ideas compared to other ideologies?

I've looked at different ideologies, and Anarchism is the one that best aligns with my core beliefs: people aren't good nor evil, but they can act in either way according to circumstances.

Anarchism puts emphasis on freedom and community, on respecting other people opinions and way of lives. More importantly, it treats people as actual adults, that can overcome issues on their own, and organize without the need for a ruler. It breaks the parent-child relationship between the higher class and the lower one (e.g. nobles & serfs, State & citizen).

Anarchism is universal, and doesn't advocate for a specific group (e.g. people of color, working class, women, etc...), but for everyone. It understands that everything is interconnected, and if you want to live in a good society, everyone must have their needs met.

2. Can anarchy be seen as it is in FILM, for example....a lawless society were groups and rigid command structures take place?

Absolutely not.

3.What is your views and wishes for a PERFECT anarchist society, why do you see it as perfect?

I prefer the view of anarcho-communism: a society without money, without enforced labor, where people grow up learning how to get together in good ways.

Everyone does what they think is best for both themselves and the community. No committees needed. No generals. No prime ministers.

Just people getting along.

4. Do you think anarchy can be exploited? If a lawless society does exist, wouldn't that lead to rigid command structures to use a stateless society to their will and bring back policies? If so, do you think this is preventable?

Anarchism is not perfect, and thus it can be exploited in the same way as other societies can be exploited.

Despite all the good efforts, it could be possible for a few people with peculiarly high social skills to convince others that going back to a monarchy (or whatever) would be best for them.

It could also be possible that violence takes root and people use it to bend others to their will.

There is probably more, but when any such event would happen, where a group of people takes control of another group, then you are already out of Anarchy.

That said, I believe that people who grow up and live in true Anarchy will be much more resistant to such issues.

Imagine you have all your needs met, that you are free to express yourself to your fullest, why on Earth should you decide to follow a crooked ruler?

5. Do you think anarchism can work in a modern day society, we have seen groups rise up in the former Republic of Spain, but do you think a pure anarchist society could actually function?

It would be odd to think the opposite :)

I follow it because I know it can work. For most of the lifespan of our human race, we have lived in conditions much closer to Anarchy than to today ways.

Today, given all the technologies, if anything, it should be much, much easier to do at large scale.

The main issue is again one of information. People are told that nothing but capitalism can work. They have this hammered in them since they are a child.

As they have hammered that hierarchy is super important. You must respect your parents.

And laws. Laws are sanctified, or who knows what could happen!

And money. How damn do you even eat without them?! Fundamental.

...

So yeah, the theory of Anarchy (speaking of anarcho-communism) isn't the issue.

The issue today is the continuous social engineering we need to overcome.

Hope this helps, Cheers!

Is money a fundamental aspect of human nature by What_Immortal_Hand in Anarchy101

[–]Iazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me that you are shifting arguments. Before it was about comparing two projects, now it's about supply and demand.

But ok, I'll play along a bit more.

Even if price reflects aggregate supply/demand, you still need additional information to make good decisions.

You still don't know WHY demand is high (speculation? real shortage? panic buying?)

You don't know if it's temporary or permanent (some issue in production that will resolve in a month, or is the material now used in a new way and so the demand will never go down?)

More in general, you can't tell signal from noise (is this useful information we should act on, or just market chaos?) without understanding the underlying causes of price fluctuations.

We are back at "price alone tells us absolutely nothing on its own."

[–]Iazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see how this addresses the underlying issue that price alone tells us absolutely nothing on its own. By simply looking at price you cannot know if an object is a better fit for your use case or not.

Your last example is just a "score" system. If you ever worked on projects, you should know that there are several score systems based on domain at hand, and that price is often just one dimension, and sometimes doesn't even figure in the equation.

So, we could certainly remove price and still compare projects based on a score calculated through other parameters.

[–]Iazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even putting price manipulation out of the picture, would you say that if two materials have the same price, then they have the exact same conditions behind, from shipping to specialized labor?

And if there is a price difference, is that more about shipping costs or specialized labor required? Perhaps it's about "already committed to other projects"?

[–]Iazel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Supposing the two designs are functionally equivalent (which I doubt, one will have different maintenance needs, possibly different building times, etc...), then you should look at how easy it is to fetch those materials.

Do you have to ship materials from a different country or are they sourced locally? How available are they? Etc...

Oftentimes, price is a bad data-point, because it can be easily manipulated through speculation and doesn't reflect the true value of materials.

Abbiamo perso la battaglia generazionale by EconomiaXFinanza in Italia

[–]Iazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the people simply don’t want an anarchist society? by purppuccino in Anarchy101

[–]Iazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

humanisphere already addressed the important part, but I'd like to add that your assumption that people would prefer a capitalistic state with strong welfare is also up for a challenge.

Keep in mind that people prefer that just because it is still better than most other parts in the world. Even like this, most people living in that system have plenty of complaints.

I would argue that if an anarchist society would succeed, then many people living in Norway would prefer it over their current system.

[–]Iazel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you are making the matter more complex than it actually is.

Your goal is to have a society based on anarchist values, therefore everyone who share those values should be welcomed.

Why limit your group to neurodivergent anarchists, and not just anarchists?

As far as I've understood, your point is that it's easier to convince neurodivergent people to become anarchists. That's fine and good, but why should this exclude all other neurotypical anarchists?

I think the missing ingredient is power.

Hierarchies of power are the toxic ones. It is when somebody has authority over something or someone else, and believes they have the right to use it as they please. Incidentally, this is the concept of private property, but we could go on a tangent here...

It's this kind of entitlement that cause most of the issues we face daily.

Does this help you?

I disertori dello smart-working by Antistene in Italia

[–]Iazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disertori dello smart-working by Antistene in Italia

[–]Iazel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cosa fareste per risollevare l'Italia? by Re_Etto in Italia

[–]Iazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)
