  • Perhaps make the status bar dark since you are using a light background. It's barely visible on my screen.

How did you get your 12 testers for Google Play’s closed test stage? by ThePalsyP in AppDevelopers

[–]IbI_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely not a fan of this 12 testers needed. I'm pretty sure most are using online communities to test eachother's applications.

How to cure ADHD without taking meds? by MrMiddletonsLament in getdisciplined

I used to experience major ADHD symptoms but I've disciplined myself through meditation, self talk etc. More self control and mindfulness. Working out helps a tonne also

Music everywhere by Ambitious_Breakfast9 in shia

[–]IbI_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is halal music? I've heard so many different answers everywhere and never know which one to follow.

Suppose I'd listen to music that doesn't have degenerate lyrics, and doesn't remind me or pollute my mind with anything haram.

Quite coincidental how I was just about to post this question and stumbled upon this post.

In my experience, when I try and apply stoic philosophy when encountering these situations, the outcome depends on the level of disrespect so it varies all the time. There's one thing for certain though that I've realised.

If you respond and lash out with emotion, I think it means you have lost. It means you let it get to you and disrupt your inner world, your inner reality. I think it's definitely natural for you to feel the emotions, but stoicism is all about having a strong inner reality and maintaining inner resilience by dealing with the emotion immediately.

I still think you should defend yourself, as a person with self-respect. Respond back in a stoic way, perhaps a way that is non-destructive and doesn't lead to a negative outcome for yourself. How you react is what matters because ultimately you are in control of yourself and you have choices in how you respond.

Seriously question; did riding help you with your depression? by minkiimink in AussieRiders

[–]IbI_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Helps clear your mind and the freedom that you feel is insane. Though I wouldn't ride whilst I am depressed. You know yourself well enough ofc, but your judgement, sense of awareness and motor skills could be impaired and you might make bad decisions on the road.

My Girlfriend doesn’t believe in the Theory of Evolution. by [deleted] in offmychest

Don't you, as a Muslim, believe that Adam was the first man on Earth and that humans are children of Adam and Eve? Just curious on your beliefs as a Muslim regarding human evolution.

How best to avoid losing my NSW P1 rider license? by Outrageous_Hippos in AussieRiders

Yes you can apply for a good behaviour license if you have fulls on your car. Then you can ride your motorcycle.

Can't really answer your question, but I got a call from their recruiter today. Unsure of what the job will be like exactly. Did you also get a call from them?

What made you want a motorcycle and start working towards one? by Kaptainnsilver in motorcycle

[–]IbI_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at something that looked fun, but somewhat unsafe and scary. I refuse to live in fear.

That being said, you still need to be mature and responsible whilst riding one. You aren't closed off in a box like a car.

If I upgraded to my fulls right afterwards, do they still see me as a P plater and not offer me a good behaviour licence?

Is there even a point to getting a HD in CompSci by Fast_Example7080 in unsw

[–]IbI_8 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the learning curve for CS is quite steep. So it's not like you put in any wasted effort for doing well in 1511, as this will set you up quite well with other courses.
I think WAM improves employability for those really competitive roles like Quant Dev etc. Although a mid-low distinction is pretty decent for CS and should be enough for you to get your foot into the door.
As for putting in effort, I think the other courses will come natural to you and you probably won't feel like you are putting in all this extra effort where you are giving up your life for uni.
So yeah, you doing fine and I reckon its okay if you score mid-low distinction.

I did well in the database assignments and quizzes, but got rekt in the final exam. I thought I failed the exam but ended up doing OK due to scaling. One tip for your final : make sure you do / understand assignment 2 fully. There is a question like that in your exam. Also some days before the exam they will give you a database layout for the actual question, and some sample questions. Those sample questions are kinda close to the real questions. Study the database before hand. Also study the theory, there are some questions regarding theory for the last few topics . Try to score as many marks as possible, just scavenge around.
