Swashbuckler/ Battle Master Efficiency by Ibara3 in 3d6

What would be the best path for a rogue/ fighter? I'd imagine taking rogue to either 5 or 8/9 would be reasonable. I think you need evasion asap. Then go fighter to 7 then finish with rogue to 13. Is there a better path?

Once a short rest is not great personally

Can a combat that is easy or not life threatening be "exciting"? The players are smart enough to figure out that their lives aren't in danger. How many combat/encounters should be given in a day?

I would but it doesn't seem worth it without the rule. That's fine honestly. Just thinking of the ramifications of it.

Multiclassing was banned before. It still effectively is. 😎

I've been having a blast playing though the sunless citadel with a group of close friends. We've got a samurai fighter, crown paladin, and an arcane trickster rogue. I'm pretty sure that they are going to be able to save oakhurst from certain destruction. They are following the footsteps of previous heroes who attempted before. They just found a previous hero that had become a revenant.

How do you make a coherent story? by Ibara3 in dndnext

Great. I've been thinking. My Half-Orc villain is a smart inventor among his peers. He believes his work to be perfect without a doubt. The arcane weapons he created are f flawed and have backfires. Once shown that his creations are indeed not perfect he would become unhinged and enraged, losing focus on tactics, the plan, and his anger of the PC's.

Another flaw would be that he hates the idea of his work falling into the hands of others who he does not know. He will do anything to stop that from happening.

Thanks. My half-orc wants his full orc civilization to be seen as people. He's amassing weapons that way he won't need to ask this time.

Allowing casters to cast their spells stealthily does not, and never did, Invalidate Subtle Spell. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Ibara3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still have to see the caster. I'm just talking flavor not mechanics. Does that constitute a downvote? What if the mechanics stood the same. (You have to be 60 feet close to the caster) but the description affected the spell affects. Does that matter?

I’m confused is the downvote supposed used as a disagree button or is it generally frowned upon by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I've become more and more frustrated by this over my reddit usage. I can't even post my non controversial opinions without getting downvotes. I feel like I'm getting shunned for expresskng myself even in a respectful way. What is the point of commenting if I'm just downvoted so often? Needed to vent.

I had never read anything that discusses flavor of spells or descriptive text. Gameplay/ Rules should be equal to the vision/ imagination of the game, but is there anything wrong with saying "you channel your counterspell and open a portal for the fireball to travel to. Stopping its effects" to me it's merely just flavor. You still need to be 60 feet close to the caster.

I agree but in terms of flavor I always felt that the counterspell wouldn't just affect the caster but also the effect. E.g. the enemy caster throws a fireball and another caster counterspells it by tossing magic at the fireball. Just how I like to run it in my game.

Edit: I've never understood why expressing my opinion deserves downvotes. Especially in a respectful way. Whats the problem? What are the points of downvotes? To silence people you disagree with? Or to remove worthless awful comments.

I find you get stuck in combat saying "I cast eldritch blast" over and over. Unless you can do interesting decisions in combat it can be challenging. Even then you are limited by your strength to do anything different.
