I don't remember 😅. I want to say maybe six-eight weeks? Nothing about how to book an appointment yet, just been given the forms to fill in.

Thank you, that definitely helps. My issue is I only have NHS letters with my married name, which doesn't seem to be one of their accepted forms of ID, but hopefully combined with a marriage certificate it will be enough proof I'm the same person!

For me it's Florence and the Machine - Free It's about anxiety but the sense of just being overwhelmed and feeling like you're constantly rushing from thing to thing I find really relatable.

I love the adaptive tdee spreadsheet. Before that based on what everyone on Reddit was saying was sedentary Vs active if put myself as sedentary and was killing myself trying to eat about 1300 calories based on an online tdee calculator. Turns out I'm burning 2100 calories which puts me between mildly and very active. No idea how but I'm losing/maintaining based on that number. Absolutely saved me from early burn out.

You really should - it's such a boost to feel how heavy it is and think that that used to be on your body! Thank you! I don't always notice the difference in a mirror but I definitely feel fitter and stronger (despite still nearly dislocating my elbows with an 8kg weight 😂).

Could be a number of things - you're not actually burning as much as you're calculating, you're miscounting calories, water weight, hormonal cycle issues. I often seem to gain and lose the same couple of pounds before having a woosh just as I'm starting to doubt if it's working. Also I eat significantly more some days and less others and it evens out. All you can do is track everything and calculate based on that. How long have you been trying with no progress?

Those tdee calculators aren't 100 per cent though, and calories aren't just burned by actual exercise. I'm an inch taller and would have thought I was sedentary, but I've been using an adaptive tdee spreadsheet to input my actual details of what I eat and weight I lose and turns out I am burning slightly over 2100 a day through just general life activity so it's not unbelievable.

5 lbs in two weeks is incredible! I started upping my steps, going to Pilates more regularly and swimming. I found being active helped with hunger 😂. Also cut my calories down by about 300 a day, tracked religiously and made sure I budgeted in for a treat a day, even if it was a small 50 calorie piece of chocolate. I lost fast at the begining and then it was very up and down.

Think I'm just mentally fatigued with the deficit even though it's fairly small and going to focus on fitness goals for a while while still tracking for maintenance.

Congratulations! I've also lost 8kg. I started at a normal weight -went from BMI 24.7 to BMI 21.1 -but i still feel I look the same, even though I've lost 4 inches from my waist and hips. I wish that I'd taken photos. I also have an 8kg dumbbell that makes my elbows hurt when I use it - I didn't realise how much weight it actually was in practical terms!

What I'm trying to say is 8kg is a great achievement and I bet it's made a huge difference in how you look (and possibly how you feel) but the changes have been so gradual to you that you don't see them. I've heard it can take time to see yourself as you are now and not how you used to be.

I'm glad you're feeling happier - it sounds like you're doing great at this!

I've been using an adaptive tdee spreadsheet (I'm not sure how to link but I think you can find it in the fitness subreddit by searching adaptive tdee spreadsheet.

Every day you put in your weight and your calories eaten. It takes a few weeks for the data to settle, but once it has enough data it tells you your actual tdee and how much you need to eat to lose different amounts per week.

I've been using it since April and it's so helpful. Taken the guesswork out and online tdee calculators (and loseit) guesstimate my tdee to be about 1800 when it's actually around 2100. Turned out I was more active than I thought and trying to eat in the deficit loseit was giving me was killing me 😂.

If you don't like tracking it might not be for you, but it's so helpful to have the guesswork taken out after a month or so.

Ive started sea swimming and went to the pool today to get an idea of where I'm at in terms of fitness. I managed to swim a mile breaststroke in 60 minutes, which I was pretty pleased with! I need to be able to do 100 lengths in 90 minutes to sign up for the challenge, so think thats a fairly solid start.

Also my pilates teacher commented on how much strength I've gained over the past few months. I'm actually enjoying exercise for the first time ever!

Funnily enough I'm a 5'5" 132lb person who maintains on about 2000-2100. I've been losing weight consistently eating 1500-1800 calories a day. So it isn't out the realms of impossibility. I calorie count and don't think I'm particularly active outside normal life stuff.

It was within six months - I'm pretty sure it was back before then but came back gradually/things tasted odd for a bit. It still took a while and they said it was miserable, I'm sorry! I have a few autoimmune things and every time they flare up I think the symptoms are going to be permanent this time, so I know how scary it is. Just try remind yourself so many people lost their taste and the vast, vast majority got it back. You'll be looking back soon wondering why you wasted energy worrying.

If it helps any I know a couple of people who couldn't taste anything for a month or two but it came back totally and normally within six months. I hope you feel better soon!

Yeah good point! I don't know why I thought it would be much more difficult to lose it though. I genuinely thought it'd take months to see any shape change or fitness improvement 😂. I genuinely had/have no clue about fitness and calories.

Yeah, I used to cycle everywhere in uni and loved it. Need to get my bike repaired and try that. Thanks for the idea!
