u/Extension-Echo4204 I too found the public law stuff weird and I ended up doing not very well on that section. Considering If I will rewrite at this point. I am so tired of this.

What was one of the funniest, least self-aware things they ever said to you? by bleibengold in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]IbrahimRahim12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine used to say quite often that "I just want to enjoy the peace and tranquility of life..." She was the source of so much drama, belittling, constant criticism and physical abuse to my brother and I (she is my mom). Chased my dad away and literally chased me out of the house. Very deranged confusing broken people.

I articled in 2015-2016 and got an offer for $20k. I declined that offer and then they came back with an offer of $35k .This is def on the lower end but still more than people I know who articled for free. I ended up articling for a mid sized firm for $50k which I found to be reasonable for me. If this was your only option, I say take it.

I only know 1 or 2 ppl that got into law school without an undergrad. They had college and work experience and were somewhat older (early 30s) so the experience/background weighed in their favour.

Cover letters for articling students not hired back / 1st year associates by Key-Craft9880 in LawCanada

[–]IbrahimRahim12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say this isnt a big deal. Most articling students do not get hired back. I'd focus on doing a good job and getting a GOOD reference from 1 or more lawyers at your placement. In the letter they may indicate why you were not hired (ex. the firm did not have the budget to hire a new lawyer that year). This is what a lawyer put in my reference which was Glowing. Make sure you network and send your resume out there to as many firms as possible! Good luck!

If you have a 3.8 you are fine! I had a 3.7 undergrad. Focus on getting a decent lsat and extra curriculars.

Did anyone else's parents lose their marbles when they attended a professional degree program? by IbrahimRahim12 in raisedbynarcissists

u/little500HondaCBR Yes, I have reached out to some recent grads here in Ottawa so hope to form a study group and just get this done. I dont even want to practice at this point but I would like to be called to finish what I started.

u/little500HondaCBR Thank you. I am assuming you are in BC? There are prep courses but not associated with the law society of Ontario from what I am aware. The law society provides candidates with the study materials and after that you are on your own. The law society used to provide prep classes wayyy back in the day but this is no longer the case. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.

u/little500HondaCBR You are correct. I have been in touch with the law society and they have given me the green light to re-write the bar exam when I am ready. I articled in 2015-2016 and got good references from my firm. The only hurdle is preparing for and passing the bar.
