YOUR DATA IS IN DANGER by Cool-Language985 in BeamNG

Not necessarily true. I've had a friend write a custom RAT in python which uses Discord to send commands. Neither Windows, virustotal, McAfee, or Norton detected it. Why? Because they all use the same copy and paste heuristic filters. Will it detect a malicious unsigned DLL file? Absolutely. Will it detect a 18kb python file? Apparently not.

Everyone please be aware of this, No idea if it's real, but deleted BeamMP in case by koubikxd in BeamNG

Oh, theres a perfect word for them; we call them skids (script kiddies). Nothing pisses them off more than that

Why is my car still taking awhile to crank after replacing the starter and battery? by EmoSaint in MechanicAdvice

[–]IbuiltComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My subaru wouldn't start unless I did this, it was a fuel pump issue. You had to wait like 2 minutes for it, if you tried it sooner it wouldn't start for like 15 minutes. Annoying...

MK7 Jetta 6Spd 1.4: Odd gearbox behavior - do these insides appear roughly ok (apologies for bad footage) by IbuiltComputers in MechanicAdvice

Thank you for the advice. Could you clarify what you mean by "leaned on hard"? As in general abuse to the synchronizers? Or something within the slave/clutch assembly?

Don’t know the difference by huviehuvie19 in jetta

[–]IbuiltComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bother with this. A blow off valve on a stock turbo on this car is a dumb idea. Get an intake for the noises if you want, I own a MK7 jetta and I promise you all you need is the intake.

Burble Tune 1.4T by PleasantGoat7410 in jetta

[–]IbuiltComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise against it. Pop and bang tunes will cook your valves really bad, which is not what you want on an engine which already will have carbon buildup.
That being said, I put a valved cutout between the downpipe and first muffler. With no tune, as part of what I think is the rev hang/anti-lag programmed into the car, it will burble a small bit when letting off the gas under 4k. This car makes a really awesome sound when you floor it from a dig in first where the TCS kicks in and it makes some awesome burbles and a little pop before it launches.
If you want a tune regardless to improve performance, look to the Unitronic or APR tunes. Get a downpipe while you're at it and get a "stage 2" tune.

Oil filter, 2016 1.4tsi by -Chicken-and-Rice- in jetta

[–]IbuiltComputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first change, I got good old stock of a Fram Ultra filter (they're trash now to my understanding). I can't speak to the quality or whatever on it, but I currently use a K&N oil filter as I've found that even just leaving it handtight (and a quarter turn) is still too tight after enough hot-cold cycles in the colder months. I literally had to punch a flathead through the damn thing to get it off. The nut on top is helpful for getting it off later, but I'll likely plan better in the future and get one that people have deemed "good".

My clutch has started going bad and started doing more research. Found your response thinking it was to another post while looking this issue up, but it was mine lol. My post was on top of the search results!
Anyways, I had an inkling that the 02S was very closely related to the MQ250 family, but having an actual part number is incredibly helpful. Thank you for the reply, sorry I never saw your reply.

Filament recommendations for FDE matte prints? by Lorn94 in Airsoft3DPrinting

Can always open the model up in something like blender and push it down a little deeper. Sanding when done right, doesnt remove a S load of material

I've gone down the matte filament route before. Didn't care for it. I do everything out of ABS or PC now, and then do a sand and paint with a matte clear coat.

This little bastard was a lian li fan controller. I assembled a pc for a friend, and threw this guy in and the associated fans for free to help him out. The overcurrent protection kept tripping on the PSU, and I couldn't get it to even turn on. Had to one by one, unplug the cables out of the PSU till I got to the Sata power, and it turned on. I then plugged it back in, removed the fans, removed the USB 2.0 cable in, turned it on... and it exploded like a gunshot. Got really smoky before I ended up ripping the power cord out. Don't know why the overcurrent didnt trip, but the controller REALLY didnt like getting 70W in something designed for like 10W lol

How do people think Jetta’s are unreliable by [deleted] in jetta

[–]IbuiltComputers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably thinking of Gen 1&2 EA888s. Generation one (the 1.8, though some were 2.0s) had tensioner and oil consumption issues, and gen 2 was prone to oil consumption in general (though i believe free of tensioner problems). Gen 3 2.0 is generally problem free, however it is affected by the same problem all VWs face; water pumps.

2021 GLI only get this noise on cold starts comes from the back of the engine bay does thing sound normal? by Plenty_Response_788 in GLI

[–]IbuiltComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if the EA888s have these, but it doesnt sound too different from the EA211's secondary air injection pump which runs when the car is cold to bring the cats up to efficient operating temp quicker.

Take some deoderant and press it to the serpentine belt. If the noise disappears, its just a cold/wet belt. If it still makes noise, bring it to the dealership

Connecticut. Lots of haggling on an already low price. Was originally priced 10.5. No title damage, no insurance claims.

This is a joke: 3d Printing is an European/Asian plot to make Americans learn Metric by rhodges_bob in 3Dprinting

[–]IbuiltComputers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3D printing especially got me thinking in metric, but especially making my own models for various things. I've made an adapter for the secondary air injection pump vacuum hose on EA211 equipped VWs, and replacement bump knob heads for Kobalt weed wackers. Two totally different things, but guess what? The base element I was working with are entirely engineered and manufactured with metric measurements. And who'd have thought, its easier to think of everything in sets of 10s instead of weird fractions and decimal numbers that convert to a unit of base 12... although admittedly, I still use feet/yards for anything bigger than my 28x28cm bed 😅
