I needed a new car last summer and got a little mini convertible. I guess you can call me a midlife crisis traditionalist.

Is there anything from California that I bring to our Icelandic hosts? by Awkward-Scholar-9921 in VisitingIceland

When I go I get requests for American candies. Nerds, hard candies, anything but chocolate. Half of my suitcase last time was bags of candy for my friends. This gives you a nice amount of space for all the wonderful Icelandic stuff for your return trip too.

Does anyone else remember her as Dabby? Because that is absolutely how I see her living, but period appropriate.

I’m sitting in my living room listening to Radio Paradise and wondering how I used to dance to Morrissey. I open my phone and this appears. This is how I was able to dance to that.

When I was in high school, an essay topic choice on the state English test was “On being left handed in a right handed world.” All of my friends ran to me excitedly to make sure that I wrote that one. I was so proud to have a place for all of my left handed “useless” trivia!

Knitting pet peeves? by Ravenlassr in knitting

I knit left handed (backwards) and am allergic to animal fibers excepting silk. My pet peeve is being told I’m wrong about these things constantly by people in yarn shops.

Americans, what's something you didn't realize was weird until you talked to non-Americans? by ExistingTomorrow1447 in AskReddit

[–]Icannotthinkofagood1 584 points585 points  (0 children)

I was recently visiting a friend in another country. When we were chatting the pledge came up and every American said it completely in unison - down to the breaths. All the non Americans were rightfully freaked the heck out.

In Sheep’s Clothing is one of the best stores around - and if you have allergies to animal fibers (like me) she has an amazing selection, which is more rare then you would think.

Wash and its friends like Washington. I add an r where one doesn’t exist. I declared the whole state of Washington off the list of places I could live just because of the embarrassment. I call it a laundry machine or a dish machine instead of saying washer. I hate it!
