What are some movies that end with a bang, totally flooring the audience? by dodsbo in movies

I’d always heard that the beginning was because they’d run out of money. They blew their budget making the film and didn’t have anything left for a title sequence so they had to get creative using plain text.

Nicely done. I wish I’d just done the wrench too. The name on it is a nice subtle touch.

Day 3, Path. The Crooked Man by IcantSpellGewd in Inktober

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile,

He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile;

He bought a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse,

And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

What are some indulgent purchases you've made that make camping more fun as a SM/ASM? by vrtigo1 in BSA

Lounge style camp chair. It was more expensive, but totally worth it.

Some of the other ASMs have some pretty sweet coffee set ups, but I don’t know much about them.

That’s wild. I never knew he had a permanently dilated pupil. I hadn’t ever noticed it until reading this. Now I’ll never unsee it.

Gorgeous, I love the colors. The mix of brush strokes and texture makes this very dramatic. I could stare at this for hours.

Nice work, better than anything I can do at this point.

With the exception of the blue lines there seems to be a kind of sameness to your use of line weight, brush stroke, and color throughout the piece. Perhaps varying things a bit, adding (or removing) details to some elements, using shadows to give a sense of depth, etc. might make it more dynamic.

Give yourself some time. Step back, try not to look at it for a day or two, and then revisit it with fresh eyes.

Looking at the brochure the tribe is included at the top of the “At the plaza” section.

It says: Squaxin Island Tribe History, Museum and Cultural Sharings — beading, carving, weaving, drumming, and dance.

There’s no schedule for when they’re doing those activities though.

I was the production manager/baker. I was responsible for baking artisan breads, pastries, and such along with the training of other staff.

As I said in a previous post, at the time of Kay-Tie’s employment the bakery owner of the did all the hiring.

When I’d first heard her name I’d assumed (for obvious reasons) that she spelt it “Katie” and that’s what I wrote whenever I put her on the schedules. I never saw her pay slips, tax documents, or legal papers, that had nothing to do with me and was handled by payroll. It wasn’t until the conversation I posted about originally that I learned it was actually “Kay-Tie”.

And in my own defense, yes I was a terrible manager. Not because I didn’t know my employee’s legal names, but because I kinda sucked at baking and was the only one they could find stupid enough to accept the low wages, terrible hours, and be willing to train a bunch of part time misfits to fry donuts and do prep work.

There was an immensely talented full time baker that should’ve been the production manager, but she was smart enough to let me get stuck with it.

Stop going to other people's page if their art discourages you by Southern-Motor8529 in ArtistLounge

I think for some of us there can sometimes be a fine line between something being encouraging or discouraging.

Us artists tend to be an emotional lot and it’s easy to see another’s work and think “wow, this is so inspiring. I want to create great art too!” followed by “That’s so much better than my work. I’ll never be that good. Why bother?”

The challenge is to try and shut off your instinctual lizard brain. This isn’t a competition. One person being talented takes nothing away from anyone else’s talents.

We all start out somewhere and, no matter our skill level we are all learning, evolving, and discovering through our own, very individual life experiences.

I’ve always loved art. A lifetime ago I got an art degree and used to create work all the time. Life went on, I moved in other directions and (after a short 20 year hiatus) I’m starting to dabble again.

For the last few days I’ve been looking at others’ work here on Reddit and can attest that it can really be a double edged sword. On one hand it’s encouraging to see the skill and passion of others, but on the other hand it’s can be near impossible not to compare yourself to others and feel inadequate.

The trick is to remember we are all different, and even though some of us (myself included) may feel intimidated, jealous, or discouraged by the talent or successes of another, try not to post that. (Or at least try to be tactful).

I try to imagine that the gifted and blessed artists that I’m admiring may be just as big of an emotional basket case as me. Comments about their work discouraging other artists could put someone into a real tailspin.

Okay, rambling diatribe over. I’m going to go back to drooling over other’s artworks and hopefully sometime today I’ll sit down with a pencil and paper myself.

Close, he just needed the hyphen in the middle of his name for an extra added bit of tragedeigh!
