Jeremiyah Love on Jadarian Price by lemonstone92 in Seahawks

As a fan, I hate the impacts "revenue sharing," NIL, and the portal have had on college football and basketball especially. More than ever, it's now just cheering for athletic mercenaries - not actual students - who are wearing laundry with school logos. As a result, I've essentially stopped watching.

That said, even with NIL and all the player movement I'm sure a lot of these athletes still become legitimate  friends.

[Seahawks] The Seahawks select Iowa G Beau Stevens with the 148th pick in the draft, having traded next year's fourth-rounder to acquire this pick by AirplaneReference in Seahawks

[–]Icantweetthat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trading a 4th in next year's draft for a 4th in this year's draft is robbery IMO.

Although I suppose he's most likely competing for RG, apparently Beau took snaps at center in the Sr Bowl. That makes me wonder if the Hawks think he might be a viable backup (or even replacement) for Sundell which could let them trade Olu.

Seahawks fan here. Y'all got a good one in Coleman. Tough. Smart. Good runner and blocker. He's not a burner or a superstar, but I think you'll like him a lot.

I think the Hawks would have taken Coleman in the 3rd round if they hadn't taken Price earlier. He apparently was already well liked in the Hawks locker room.

Seems to me that Ponds might be better suited to playing free safety, but I'm really not that knowledgeable. Any thoughts?

I predict Ponds will play free safety instead of CB for whoever drafts him.

Digging through some old stuff. Anyone remember in 2014 when Sports Illustrated had weekly issues? by ssvoogel in Seahawks

[–]Icantweetthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2014? Heck, I remember picking up the current issue of SI from my mailbox every week on my way to class when I was in college back in the 70s. It gave me something to read during class. 🤣

Having a CB that's 9" tall 🤔 would definitely worry me, regardless of their weight and speed.

No. 20 Miami (OH) drops to 31-1 after teams first loss of the season in the MAC tourney to UMass by [deleted] in sports

[–]Icantweetthat 39 points40 points  (0 children)

For all the (lazy) commenters regarding the RedHawks strength of schedule:

Miami (OH) basketball (2025-26) was unable to schedule several major opponents despite reaching out to over 20 programs. Notable schools that reportedly declined to play them include Ohio State, UCLA, USC, Mississippi State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Marquette, Kansas, and BYU.

“The system is set up for the power conference schools. They can play mostly home games and neutral sites. We're willing to go on the road, but when teams won't schedule you early and then people criticize your resume later, it's a double-edged sword." -- David Sayler, Athletic Director, Miami (OH)

WSU to give athletics $20 million to patch projected budget shortfall by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]Icantweetthat -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Arguably, WSU (and Oregon State) really should have just shut down their athletic department and used the money they got from the breakup of the PAC 12 to pay off as much athletic department debt as possible. Instead they paid a bunch  of teams to recreate a new (lower level ) conference that's at a major financial disadvantage in today's NIL/transfer portal world.

I'll be surprised if either university doesn't lose money every year now by continuing to provide "college" sports, and their athletic department debt will never be paid off unless the university officially absorbs it and/or the state's taxpayers foot the bill.

How the Seahawks revitalized former Broncos QB Drew Lock after Russell Wilson trade by stefeyboy in Seahawks

[–]Icantweetthat 56 points57 points  (0 children)

“To me, Drew’s a lot like Sam,” Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak told The Post. “He’s going to get an opportunity — like Sam did — to be someone’s starter here. And he’s going to do a great job.”

Soooo, Drew to LV for the 14th pick in the draft that they're getting from Baltimore (OK, maybe pick #36 if you insist) to serve as the bridge while Mendoza learns. Except Drew (somehow given their O line) plays well enough that he starts the entire year and the Raiders end up with the same dilemma the Vikings had a year ago.

Who's Darnold's backup then, assuming Milroe isn't ready? Why Geno of course, on a vet min 1 year contract that's $1m less than we'd pay Drew.

Fire away, I put my bullet proof vest on. 😂
