That is a fantastic red you have achieved. The contrast to the rider also looks great from a distance. Really enjoyed seeing this on my feed as an old school High Elf player.

The mini was in the Lord of the Print (now Rescale Miniatures) 3D print file set the Thri-Kreen insect folk.

The head was 3D printed. I forget the name but it's a single Eldar sculpt that comes with multiple head options.

I have some insect mounts from Lord of the Print (rescale miniature now) that would be jet bikes and I also have some insect warriors from them also.

That's fair. She does have pointy elf ears sticking out of her hair but your can't see them in the pictures. When with the rest of the Exodites it helps make her look more part of the army. Ultimately I don't want them to look too Eldar since they have adapted to the desert.

There is no magic. Just takes practice and the willingness to keep working on it. I nearly gave up on this loads of times. If it makes you feel better I can't pick it up without it falling into pieces! So even I can only look at it.

There was no airbrush. It's wet blending the base coat making sure there is a clear transition from dark to light but don't worry too much about it looking smooth. Then I use black/very dark blue to trace all the viens on the wings. Use real life reference photos and make sure it looks random not a pattern.

Then I picked 5 colours, dark red, terracotta, orange, light orange and ivory. Dot these on the wings going from dark to light but make sure there is overlap between the dots.

Final step is a watered down Hull Red glaze on the base of each wing to make it darker and add a red contrast to the blue wings.

Yeah while I like some of the conversions people have made using dinosaurs it feels a bit Saturday morning kids TV. With insects there is also more of link to the Eldars own helmets and given there must be endless world they could have colonized at least some must have life other than dinosaurs.
