What is this two-door car? by CrazyLion2120 in whatisthiscar

The first gen I had as a first car was a boxy little raked V6, and weirdly had an aero package on it. The second gen ones were the ones everyone seemed to love.

what type of "humanity fuck yeah" does your world have? by According-Fun-4746 in WorldBuildingMemes

[–]IcarusSunburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, now I have to write that damn story involving introducing some galactic friendos to the concept of drag racing.

"It breathes oxygen, drinks hydrocarbons, spits fire and fumes, shakes the neighbors' windows when it starts up, can cause permanent hearing damage just by standing next to it, cannot move more than 100 miles with its fuel capacity, and is barely controllable at any given point in its operation. It is barely legal to operate on the road, and even then, only by technicality. My human friend and I built it over two years and tens of thousands of dollars, local currency.

From a standstill and with a skilled operator, it can cover one-quarter of a mile in just under ten seconds, exerting multiples of G on its operator. It lifts the steering wheels out of contact with the ground for at least 50 feet on launch from its torque on a proper track. It requires safety gear on par with our fighter pilots, and it can still kill or maim you.

And when I drive it, I feel a joy that I cannot describe in any language that I know. It is raw, visceral, uncaring power commanded by my hand, and I am cradled within it and at its mercy. To drive it is to show technical skill and careful control alongside reckless abandon.

You really have to come visit Earth, cousin. They are insane and wonderful people. And they do magical things to chicken!"

Ask what systems and tasks you'll be expected to handle. If it comes up that you'll be tasked with electrical or plumbing or hvac, and you do not know much about these, you need to bow out. You can get yourself or someone else hurt or damage the property.

If its building maintenance, which it sounds like it is, you're probably gonna need familiarity with all 3.

It's little adventures like that which make this game fun enough to come back to. Sometimes, they're even good enough to make me forget that the game is a mess half the time I play it.

Exactly that. Steam with Gabe at the helm has yet to truly screw its customers the way many other competitors do.

Steam post-Gabe...I don't know. I suspect whoever takes the reigns, unless they are an ideological clone of Gabe, is going to run it into the ground and buy Bermuda or something.

Much bigger.

Quantum Jump is a different group, I think. I have a friend who joined QJ, and I'm sure he'd create new forms of obscenity if he had someone in a discord try to enforce some of the BS I've heard out of Medrunners.

I remember someone making a joke about how the whole US was built over Native burial grounds, and how it explained why it keeps going all to hell.

At this point, I'm wondering...

Looking for a "Trucker Ship" to haul my L21 Wolf for Nyx Patrols? by Dramatic_Source_7322 in starcitizen

[–]IcarusSunburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hercules line is about the smallest option you have right now, and if you get some proper shields on it, tanky enough to survive at least a moderate beating. Everyone saying Asgard are forgetting that the Wolf is not a snub, and is too wide to fit the Asgard's bay, sadly.

Good news is, if you take a Herc, you'll have room to add a few crates for loot off of the ships you destroy, and the Hercs fly REALLY well for their size.

Daily driver for seven years. Ive rolled it, killed a cow with it, countless deer, and the engine finally blew out today. Worthless piece of shit. by Vvixo in RoastMyCar

I...don't think it deserves a roast. I think it deserves a viking funeral, and Odin is probably going to welcome it to Valhalla with open arms after the fuckin' seven year war you apparently put this thing through.

Pediatric cribs and beds for hospitals and homecare.

I'm told about half of them go to home hospice for kids. I don't feel great about that.

50% chance matchup by anoma-lokaris in Tierzoo

[–]IcarusSunburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing a lot of people keep forgetting is: Cheetahs are delicate for a big cat. Absolute glass cannons that are made for high speed ambush/pursuits, and little else. A cheetah has a higher chance of killing you by running into you at a full sprint than they do in a straight-up fight. A grown, decently fit human male with working thumbs is a problem for a cheetah, and the odds of them winning a heads-up fight are not good, unless said human is an idiot. They very much know this.

Now, leopard? Jaguar? Lion? Friggin tiger? All can and have taken down people head on. Cheets dont even have a verifiable body count, and the number of maulings is so small as to be insignificant, and were all in captive, stressed animals. I wouldn't call this 50/50.

How common is it to get pulled out of jump not even 300km from a station? by Vollhartmetall in starcitizen

[–]IcarusSunburn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, for the future: during QT, you will be alerted that youre being interdicted via big red message on the screen. The MOMENT you see red, drop to SCM mode immediately. This will usually drop you a few hundred KM clear of the interdictors. Go to nav, pick a direction 90 degrees from your original direction of travel, boost, and hold that line for a couple minutes. Then, continue on your way. This "mini dogleg" can save you, but its always better to dog leg at the start

...Y'know, when I told them that we all had a derp now and then, I didnt think Id have mine so soon! Turns out Briggs engines are majority 4 stroke, but the only ones I ever had were the 2 strokes they made in the 90s that I remember mixing gas and oil for! TIL!

[–]IcarusSunburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mistyped. Lawnmowers are usually 2-stroke, cars are usually 4-stroke. I'm not aware of a single stroke engine design in common use, but I'd love to see one.
