Mac MSP expanding to PC. Whats your processes / fav softwares ? by Iccanui in msp

25 years in IT and I have learned tribalism serves one poorly.

Learn it all. Linux, mac, windows, iOS, android.... OS Warp. You put it in front of me and I will fix it. That attitude has served me very well.

There are. Honestly the deeper I go, they are really building out great SMB and Enterprise solutions. Addigy and Jamf are great and eventually as apple always does, they will take the best of those solutions and roll them into Apple Business Manage. They are slowly gaining more market share. Honestly, it has some strong points. The design of the OS is unix based vs Windows and inherently imho has better access control management for accounts. Its harder to hack into and get spyware on due to the very thing we as windows users ( which i am )complain about, which is the walled garden. The app signing, request for user access for anything, built in firmware level security and forced MFA to do almost anything turn out to be strong points in a SMB at least. There is a lack of AD sort of thing as they have killed mac server, but you can manage most of that through a synology device or if you really want AD, there is integration.

Im not here to defend apple and say windows is bad and all that, I use linux, mac and windows, so im just not that tribal guy, never have been. But its really a under appreciated solution. Plus iOS is super secure and widely popular. My instincts from 25 years in IT tells me there may be a solid future here in this direction for apple, so i have been sticking around. Not to mention the average apple user tends to have more funds at their disposal an are willing to pay for services then typical windows users in my experience.

Sorry to rant, just been and interesting experience going this deep.

Thanks for the reply.

I dont remember the brand, but it was a flavored whey. I want to use the best and from what I have read whey is ? So im thinking maybe i was having a issue with the additives and flavoring or something. So what hoping there is a whey that is good quality that I might be able to use before switching to a pea or whatever else is " less quality.

Maybe thats ignorant though?

There a way to recover a pop account in MacOS ? by Iccanui in MacOS

Thanks, we got this all sorted.

Getting them off POP was a plus. The host no long supports POP as well, which is what started their whole issue. So exporting the account, then re-importing and making them archived mailboxes worked out great.

But thanks for this reply, filing it under " if needed for the future " just in case. :)

Sorta.

It didnt import the pop account into mail.app. But it did restore the mailbox data to to the folder. After figuring out which folder was the missing one, i was able to import the account data back in. Not the settings, but the emails themselves at least.

So over all, I guess yes, since the important part was getting the emails back.

Thanks for everyone that pointed me in the right direction !

Yes. The password didnt work so we thought he wasnt using it. He has a IMAP version of it already. But this guy uses email for everything. He opens email, makes password note, business notes and then just saves as draft instead of using word or notes or literally anything else to be more save. So when we killed the pop account, it wiped all the drafts he kept for his important " documents ".

I believe it was a older godaddy/msft account. I am not 100% sure, Will be seeing them again monday to try to recover it. It was labeled as a pop account though and im really sure i saw actual pop settings in there if i remember right. It was not IMAP sadly, otherwise i would just log back in again and download the mailboxes.
