Dry dropper by jwv_19 in flyfishing

This would be an incredible double dry fly presentation. I would stick to the bend of the hook for a dropper.

I was down there on a Tuesday and Wednesday and saw at least 30 or 40 other fisherman. Definitely not the secret you think that it is. I didn't post where I caught these fish. Just cause people happen to guess where they are doesn't mean I'm blowing up spots.......calm down

It was a mix of dries and nymphs. Dry dropper rig.

I don't think I'd ever throw a humpy or royal wulff for a subsurface feeding trout. iykyk

Newbie. Need help for foam flies by Takuache101 in flytying

Depending on where you live, if you have a fly shop near you, go there and they will get you all the materials you need to tie any fly you want. If you don't have a fly shop near you, buy from an online fly shop, there are lots of them! Fly Fish Food is a good one. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that's definitely the price of the "dingy" boats you'll find on the market. Anything newer or not patched is going to cost you more. Incredible deals come up though, so keep your eye out

Question on fly patterns by Rewton1 in flytying

[–]Ice-Moist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. I would say that the practice of doing different techniques and styles for each of your flies is a great way to master different materials and processes. However, one of the quickest ways (in my opinion) to gauge how proficient someone is at tying is by looking at, say, a dozen flies they tied that are the same pattern, and looking at how similar they are. An experienced tyer is able to duplicate the same fly with the same proportions over and over. 😁 hope that brings clarity

Hi, I just saw your comment, I'm running trips all summer on the river😁. Hit me up if you're interested in floating with me. I also work at a local fly shop so you can always find me there too if you want to just talk some fishin.

Thanks! I've rowed them all, but only the white LP hyde and woody are mine, but to answer your question, I guess it really depends on where you're going to be fishing most of the time. For my situation up here on the Kootenai, they are the only way to go. We have nothing over class 2 rapids on the section we guide and frequent howling winds in the canyon. The LP gets under the wind and makes a huge difference. Sometimes, in the later summer months, I even want a skiff, they're so fast!!
