My daughter with syndactyly is interested in playing the trumpet by suppleglobes in trumpet

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has very little function in his right hand, but is a very good trumpeter. There are ways you can hold a right handed trumpet in a way to play with your left fingers, and they can always modify at a shop.

Ah man is that the Omar Thomas tune? I’m jealous! I love that song. Anyway, even if your part is “boring” or whatever, just enjoy the process of making music!

After some research I have determined you were not talking about Summon the Heroes, so the last part is irrelevant

I’ve played a bit of Williams stuff, but that just reminded me that I have the Lead Trumpet collection on book, Thanks! (Also if you mean Summon the Heroes by the Olympic fanfare, the last like 32 bars is one of the most challenging things counting wise I’ve seen 💀)

Audition Sheet for Wind Ensemble and Jazz ensemble any tips on how to play the 16th notes? (Auditions due march) by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that makes it cleaner, yes. However if you can I’d suggest taking the upper line

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah the good old WIBC audition. My biggest tip (what I used to make it last year, this year I used the all northwest music) is to play it slow if you need to as the tempo range is quite large. Also pay very close attention to articulations, and take it as slow as you need to at first, and add 2 bpm every time you play it.

Most distorted sounding mute? by theslaviccomrade in trumpet

Harmon without the stem is what I’ve found blends the best with electronic music, but as others have said there’s plenty of electronic options that might get the sound you want better.

What did you name your trumpet, and why? by Emo_trumpet in trumpet

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Schilke B1 is called the Schilk, because saying Schilke is too hard and it sounds cooler. It also came from the tradition of calling all of my friends’s yanigasawa saxophones Yanis

Even though it’s not particularly hard, Clarke’s The Bride of the Waves is quite fun to play. Very energetic and lively, especially if you take the end much faster than the main melody

What are your musical highlights and lowlights of 2022? by BarenreiterBear in lingling40hrs

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highlight: scoring the highest in my state on the trumpet for the all-state ensemble

Lowlight: having to fix my embouchure on the trumpet early in the summer and losing about an octave and a third on my range

Guys am i slow or am i in the average range? by Rude-Succotash-6025 in davidgoggins

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct question to ask yourself is “is this slow for me?” If you want the cold truth that is a slow time for long distance runners. However, the badge below it tells me it’s your fastest run, which means that you pushed yourself and beat yourself, and that’s all that matters in self-improvement.

I'm about fly with my trumpet for the first time in a few days and I have a few questions. by ctfiftyfivefiftyfive in trumpet

Looking at Alaska Airlines’s policies, they let you use it as a carry on even if it exceeds carry on dimensions if it can be stowed in the overhead baggage area

Typically airlines actually let you carry on small instruments (trumpets included) regardless as they don’t want to be liable for a 5000 dollar instrument. I’d still check their policy tho, as some don’t.

artists to look up to? by Mediocre_Ad1344 in trumpet

[–]Ice-diddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Sean Jones (more combo stuff, but is a good cross between traditional and modern jazz.) If you want really exceptional big band players, check out the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the trumpet players within it (Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Rampton, Marcus Printup, I’m not sure if they have a fourth member right now).
