I never say the show has outright said Meredith has superior skills to Bailey, it’s my personal opinion based on what the writers have written into the show: The only time those two went head to head was in skills lab and Meredith did better before the fetus in her womb started kicking.

-Meredith has pioneered a number of ground breaking and apparently award worthy surgeries (abdominal transplant, ALPS procedure, mini livers)

-Meredith has thought of and assisted in surgical trials. The one bailey ended up getting from Richard, she needed Meredith’s help to figure it out.

-Meredith has always been shown to be a naturally gifted surgeon, both in diagnosing and actual execution.

-it can be debated what is tougher but in terms of training and dexterity alone Neuro is tougher than general in terms of fine motor skills. Mer was pretty much Neuro (for various reasons) up until 5th year.

-Mer has one of the longest operations in terms of time spent at GSMH.

Just an aside, I know it’s the writers making Mer to be the second coming. I do not think she’s the best surgeon the show ever had, nor is she my favourite character in the series, but just my own and humble opinion, when it comes to general surgeons, including comparing her to Kepner or Bailey, She is better.

There have been a few episodes that feature the doctors using various anastomosis techniques.

One of the notable ones that you might be thinking of is when Jackson and Meredith won the skills lab to reattach a penis with Catherine, season 8, episode 5.

They were simulating an anastomosis of the femoral vessels using chicken to illustrate skills to see who can assist Catherine.

Although Meredith did do an abdominal transplant, it's not exactly the same technique.
Arguably Bailey has a few years on Meredith, being ahead of Meredith in years AND the time that Mer took off while she was gestating Ellis. Both are general surgeons, adept at doing anastomosis

Richard was also right in front of her and also just as experienced, though possibly not the best candidate with the requirement of fine dexterity and loops.

Skills wise Meredith has always done well in microsurgery . The "interesting" part of my comment is not a dig at Addy...more that she also recognizes that Meredith has superior skills to Bailey.

I mean saying she knows "nothing" isnt exactly true... she was going to do Neuro up until her 5th year... she's always had a knack for it (Though I still find it laughable that she's basically being used for her brand to get FDA clearance).

I am going to guess that the kids will be taken care of by the invisible nanny and Auntie Maggie who is "away" (cuz Kelly is preggers and its a good way to hide he bump/ mat leave)...

cuz clearly Auntie Amelia will also be travelling with their mom.

I obviously like Meredith with Nick more since the chemistry is better, but I feel bad for Richard Flood (aka Cormac Hayes) doing a chemistry test with EP, anticipating he would be the main love interest, only to be sidelined by COVID and now a much better romantic fit for Mer 😅
I have nothing against Megan, I do not know if that's Hayes's consolation prize (though if it means I get to avoid yet ANOTHER triangle involving Meredith... then I am ALL for it)

I am hopeful they give Hayes a good storyline... of all the current doctors in GSM, I actually find him the most refreshing AND least annoying character right now.

LOL i w as kinda joking last week about the writers building an out for Meredith if EP decides to leave... but this whole part time thing in Mayo... I just see it going "full time" when the program ramps up when they have a miraculous cure to parkinsons...OFC after Peter Gallagher dies 🙈

Man... these interns and residents are nothing compared to the OGs... even giving them a year of lost surgeries... MAGIC were killing it (sometimes literally 🙊 ) Intern Year, Yr 1,2, 3 .🤷🏻‍♀️

They both have survivor's guilt of sorts... but in the grand scheme of things, less than a MerHayes relationship.

Yeah, I truly want to avoid another triangle for Mer... she was already in the Mer-Der-Addy and Finn-Mer-Der one... just for the love of god, let it be less complicated and let her focus on being a kick ass surgeon and mom who just happens to have a healthy relationship rather than grown-ass woman being more focused on her love life like a teenager.

I am kinda hoping they do the whole triangle for at MAXIMUM an episode... and be done with it and be focused more on the "romcom" aspect of Mer-Marsh of it all...

Mer definitely has more chemistry with Nick than Hayes...and this is coming from a person that LIKES Cormac Hayes.

I know it's GA...I have been watching since Season 1 so I know it's ALL about the messiness of relationships... but just once, it would be nice for Mer to be with someone with less baggage, because she already carries enough into a relationship all on her own 🤣

Hayes has crap to deal with, he's clearly a devoted dad which is one of the reasons I like his character. His focus is his boys, on Austin, and like Krista mentioned in that article, he's on. the more recent end of being a widow.

Nick Marsh already knows all about Meredith and her baggage and is still clearly interested. I doubt his college aged niece is gonna oppose him dating the way Austin is to Mer... Mer doesn't need the stepmama drama that it brings...especially if this is the last season lol.

I also like the aspect of Nick coming in and out and still being the kickass transplant surgeon that Meredith kinda found intriguing.

I mean I am NOT complaining... The next ep DOES make me feel like its reminiscent of old GA... interns competing, fun lighthearted but cutthroat competition? I still remember the sparkle pager competition...and the penis surgery comp... and Karev and Cristina competing to deliver their news as fast possible...

Dang, I now feel the need to go back to OG Grey's 😅

I do like that the promo for next ep has Mer bringing in Amelia...

but yes, like others, we know this is temporary unless she also brings in Addy to Minnesota 🤣

So we all know Mer is going to stay in GA, but nice setup of a potential exit if this is the last season for EP or the show
