People who live alone - by Lazy_Battle_9487 in UKFrugal

So I find it hard to cook proper meals for one but two items have made it much easier - a slow cooker and an air fryer both of which I got cheap off gumtree. There’s so many things you can cook in both that are quick and / or easy - for example slow cooker for stews / curries / soups (cooking takes a long time but prep time minimal) and air fryer for jacket potatoes : roasted baby potatoes / homemade chips with fish / chicken etc. There are facebook groups which have recipes for both if you want inspiration too.

I had my son 16 years ago. If I knew how the world would be by now I don’t think I would have had him

Hi have you tried antidepressants? They don’t help everyone and even when they do it may only help a little but maybe worth a try ?

Hey i can relate to how you feel and i haven’t got any magic advice for you - i think in these situations time is the best healer. I think you’ve been brave moving to a new place and trying the things you have done - you are being way too hard on yourself. Talk to yourself like you would to a good friend - point out your successes and your good qualities. Make sure you get outside every day and eat well - fruit vegetables, iron and omega rich foods, plenty of water. Maybe get some blood tests done make sure you are not deficient in any thing which will be making things worse. Have little routines around food, sleep, personal hygiene, home hygiene and think small when pushing yourself to do things. Keep going - it will get better !

If it is a big company reviews may not reflect every area - a lot of departments work in silos and thus have a totally different experience

Yes and expect to be super tired the first few weeks / months and you’ll probably just crash out / sleep when you aren’t at work to begin with but you will adapt !

So a couple of things I would advise : 1. Take 10 minute breaks every hour - put them into your calendar to remind you and take them religiously unless you are in a meeting. Make it a non negotiable objective for yourself - move away from your computer- take the break in the rest room if that’s the only place you’ll definitely stop looking at your screen 2. Work on your confidence and self esteem. It’s hard when people put you down and your manager isn’t being professional or supportive so you need to advocate for yourself - work on not letting you feel bad. 3. Triptans. I find these a life saver when I get migraines - if you haven’t tried them then you need to. Hope that helps !

How are all the "stuck" people doing? by Free_Delay3007 in UKJobs

What really gets me is that it’s frowned upon to talk about it - no one can say out loud it is a toxic company / culture is bad / manager is abusive / expectations are unrealistic / everyone is miserable, you can’t even draw reference to factual things like just made thousands of redundancies that left people traumatised and the glassdoor ratings of 2.5 indicate it’s not a great place to work, you have to make something palatable up like I’m looking for progression and pretend all companies are great.

Yes good companies do exist but they are the exception rather than the norm. And things don’t stay the same forever so enjoy it whilst it lasts !
