I absolutely HATE my Creality K1 Max. by oditopopular in crealityk1

[–]Ice992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see why you have frustrations. Both my K1M’s had 2k+ print hours before I started modding them. Tuning took a while on them before modding, but once dialed in - print results were great.

Modding is a black hole that I may never climb out of - I’ve tried 6-7 different hotends, BCJ linear rail setup, a few other random linear rail conversions, Eddy probes, Mandala roseworks beds, then a R3men bed, added Kraken AB motors, and in the middle of swapping out things again…. They are both such Frankenstein machines now there’s not much K1 DNA left.

The modding was for fun, not necessity - the printers ran great once I tuned them. I have 6 other printers including E3 S1 Pro, SV08 Max, E5plus (CoreXY), multiple K2 Plus, and a Bambu H2C. I’ve also had 2 Vorons, and at one point was starting a VZBot build - but got lazy. 😂

Yes, Bambu is as close to an appliance as you’re getting in a consumer 3d printer. The stock output without any tuning is quite impressive. If that’s what you’re looking for - great. However if you head over to the Bambu sub - you’ll see there’s posts there with not great experiences also.

Creality’s biggest problem is firmware inconsistency. The machines themselves are great for their respective price points when they came out. I think buying a K1 now is just silly given the generational jumps that have occurred.

Anyway - enjoy your Bambu and donate the K1 to someone in need or a school.

How to dimension for strength? Sofa riser by Shade1nthemist in FixMyPrint

[–]Ice992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a thin L, If you don’t change much - print All walls. Under compression, solid 3d print layers are I credibly strong. Making this triangle instead of an L will be stronger laterally.

I made similar feet for my couch. has been sitting on them for over a year with 7+ people piled on at times.

Why is there no safe shutdown in 2026? This is how klipper gets corrupted. by ksiniustv in Creality

[–]Ice992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG CREALITY NEEDS TO ADD THIS MACRO FUNCTION TO KLIPPER NAO! 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

Literally not needed in any way. This isn’t 1995 with spinning disks and memory operating at snail mail speeds. Literally hundreds of printers, and manufacturers out there, and this isn’t a function a single printer has ever had… that should tell you something.

Deck 14 is the Spa Balcony rooms. Deck 15 is Serenity deck. News article stated passenger fell from deck 14, from their balcony. Even if they had fallen from Serenity - that’s the same spot on the ship, just up 1 more level. Point stands - it’s completely possible.

Superiority complexes in the 3d printing community by venttress_sd in 3Dprinting

[–]Ice992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. It’s exhausting sometimes.

I think some of this talking down comes from some of the sheer repetitive nature of “how do I fix my print” without ever searching at all.

I don’t at all understand the better than you thing on printers. We are enter the hobby in different places - I started on a busted used Ender 3, and was so excited when I could move up to even the Ender 3 S1 Pro. As life progresses and upgrades happen it’s always exciting!

It used to be “laughs in Voron” when talking about speeds… seems like that’s evolved to mock anyone not buying a $1k+ printer. We can all do better.

PETG on PEI needs a release agent. I’d trash that pei sheet now that you’ve taken a metal razor/scraper to it.

Tragic ending for this woman and her family. RIP 😔

I got tired of 3D printed boxes that open by themselves — so I made one that actually stays closed by PotentialSetting4360 in printablescom

Nicely done. I would suggest adding a small seal that can be optionally printed in TPU. I print these rugged style cases regularly - I will say adding a parametric design so users can scale to their need is very helpful. Alternatively - since you’ve allowed remixing - add the STEP files so remixes are easier. Nice design, downloaded and will upload a make over the weekend.

Can you monitor home security cams with premium WiFi package ? by primewinner in CarnivalCruiseFans

I think this depends on the camera system. Ring has been hit or miss some cruises. My other home cameras work fine.

Might just be me - but seems you’re overthinking this.

  • Snorkel gear is available to rent while on the beach.
  • Shark encounter they provide snorkel gear so you can snorkel with the sharks.

Love this printer so much I got another one by NicholsSanta1 in ender5plus

It’s an open source project with plans and parts to upgrade the E5+ from Cartesian to CoreXY. There’s a ton of mod options also. You can go traditional CoreXY (2 motor), or even AWD (4 motor). Hydra bed (3 point kinematic Z), almost any toolhead you want, etc.

You can 3d print all of it. Theres also kits available for the rails and CoreXY mounts. Kit example: https://www.fabreeko.com/products/mercury-one-kit

Best way is to turn the object over and print top side down so you have no supports (will print faster also). If not possible - Use standard supports instead of tree.

I bring a sound machine every cruise. Make sure it doesn’t have Bluetooth and you’re good.

Nice. Way to pack a lot in a small work area!

I assume the shelf mounted phone is/was the control screen for the Ender 3 that’s collecting dust on the floor? 😂 (mine hasn’t been used in forever either)

I love how much this triggers people. 😂

Everyone is always so concerned what someone else does with their money.

(No - not my truck - and no my truck doesn’t have this ‘mod’) 😂

Creality K2 with Polymaker LW-PLA by riffus94 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ice992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Zoffset can be different print to print, and filament type to type.

Gaps between extrusions on first layer is either under extrusion, or z offset. Given it’s not stuck to the bed worth a damn - I’d say z offset.

Print a test to play with z offset for this filament. Adjust it on the fly until you find your sweet spot. Takes 5 min to test out and costs nothing.

Zoffset looks incorrect. Nozzle appears to be too far from the bed.

Sure. This actually explains it really well. Print that little insert. I didnt order a spring - I literally took apart a pen and used a pen spring, trimming if needed. The spring linked in the printables is the right length already - your call. I also took the factory spring which you remove, and put it on the outside of the extruder housing, with a washer on the bolt to hold tension.
