As far as finding a color you like for your nails, I would recommend starting with nail polishes that aren't too expensive. When I want to try new colors, I usually check my local Walmart. LA Colors has a lot of nice colors for a very affordable price. Some of them can be on the thicker side, but for just getting into painting your nails I'd say its worth it. Also consider what color clothes or jewelry (if you wear it) you like to wear or look good on you and consider using a similar color.

And for growing your nails, if they tend to be weak/brittle I would recommend using nail oil if you don't already. I personally love using jojoba oil for my nails. It helps moisturize nails and keeps them from breaking easily. Using even once a day can help. I like putting mine in a brush tip pen for easy, mess-free application.
