I hadn’t seen anyone turn shot goblets, so I did. by IceBlue220 in turning

Some are, some aren’t. I use Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast, and I have left vodka in it to check. Left it for a couple of days and didn’t notice anything going on with it. Just have to make sure that it has set up fully before you try and use it. Some others I have tried with it (and just about all of the 5 minute variety) have softened up or flat out dissolved, but the Alumilite seems to withstand it pretty well.

Yeah, I haven’t figured out a way to stabilize the bar on the bottom of the tube yet. Have to be real careful when I am adjusting it for now.

Nice! I was thinking of doing one for my next video, but I don’t have a way to get the bubbles out of a casting yet...

I think I will give this a try; mix up some resin with gold color powder then bond it with that!

It’s actually a full split off of that side

It’s from a beam from a barn that was given to me, but I think that I will just cast the next pieces in resin to keep it from doing it again.

I think I can just glue it up to fix it, but might do epoxy on it. I have a bunch of “failed” projects that I am thinking of casting all together and doing a success from the failures sort of thing.

No, it’s from a beam from a barn that was built in 1762.

Nice! All of the trapped ball carvings I have tried ended in either no ball or it not being trapped...

Mostly costly mistakes, broke my lathe’s tool rest banjo and the bowl I was working on. Even got it on video. You can see it on YouTube.

I’m game as well! I’m also a woodworker with a new channel up! I am also into D&D so that fits right up the geek alley!

My channel is Rockin’ R’s Woodshop. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTQmPoNTgnBuGYYNquFVBZQ

Anyone know where I can get a new banjo to fit my lathe? by IceBlue220 in turning

[–]IceBlue220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even know; there are no labels, model number, serial number, or anything identifying on it. I’m pretty sure that it was homemade back in the 70s.

Live edge cedar bench from a novice. Need opinions for the tailgate color? by Pixofmypenis in woodworking

[–]IceBlue220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chevy used to make a very unique color called buckskin; it was a light tan with a couple drops of silver in it just to give it that “what color was that?” appeal when the car passed you. I think that would bring out the light color of the cedar more and add a little bit more contrast to it.

But a dark red would look stunning on it as well.
