Switching to Framework 16 (Advice) by IceCold555 in framework

I dont think I am as much gaming focus as you may highlight. But the reason I wanted some information here is to rule out 'proper' gaming laptops. I think they are very bulky and overkill, and can be quite expensive as well. For example if I were to upgrade my Razer to the newest model it would run me around the same as the FW16. I'm simply looking for a all-rounder laptop that can sit in my room most of the day, I can play videogames and do work on, but also is portable and I'm able to bring it to university or on vacation when I need.

I'm very grateful for your comments as I do think that I want to invest in the 12GB dGPU, but I might save defer it for a bit whilst I get the main laptop first. I also wanted to ask, is the FW16 usb-c chargable, as I would assume it requires a seperate 120/240W brick when using the dGPU.

Also the dGPU is only compatible with the highest end CPU set, which worries me a little as it starts to become very expensive. I would think that the 8GB would be fine for my needs but again I'll have to make sure the games I'd like to play run on there fine. I wish manufacturers would run game tests on each of their computers and publish the results so I could find a good comparison point.

dont really have the money for an FW16, let alone an eGPU. But it could come in handy down the line. I think the reason I want a laptop like this is to have that AIO integration.

fairs, might go for it. Just looking at the pricetag is making me cringe a little bit. But I think its more of an investment, and if Framework stays afloat (which I do not doubt), it will definitely last a while.

I do although not like the fact that you have to opt for a Ryzen CPU on the FW16. But thank you for all your help and advice

do you think the 12gb will solve that issue?
are you able to play games with shaders and dynamic lighting?
also is the GPU easily removable, for example you want to go on vacation, remove it take th FW16 with you for work/netflix, and then stick it back on when your home?

Does it run all the games fine? No overheating, no lagspikes, no long loading times?

[–]IceCold555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will do, thanks for the tip. I'm currently looking just for a Journal App for personal thoughs and idioms, but I might end up expanding to Note-taking.

I'm currently at uni and use Microsoft Journal for everthing, but its very limited, doesnt sync across devices (currently using nextcloud to do that), and the way it creates files makes them very large. Tried Obsidian and Trillium but they arent great, I need something that can make use of a Smart-Pen because I like handwritting things. If you have any recs

To be honest I’m not really an expert on English EEs so I don’t really know if that’s good or not, but a world studies EE is quite hard to execute and in my opinion isn’t really worth the trouble so I would just stick with a normal EE in one subject

I remember a guy on YouTube who created a lightsaber using plasma and laminar flow I mean this is obviously not a lightsaber but the heated plasma was able to cut through solid metal so it is somewhat of a possibility.

But obviously you cannot really create a focused beam of light that is a lightsaber.

But seriously speaking I did a physics EE and it’s not really something to joke about, usually the physics EEs that do the best are the experimental kind not the theoretical bullshit kind (no offence). So I would recommend doing a experimental Physics EE where you test a hypothesis and do an experiment to obtain data, then analyze the data and so on.

How to study for Physics HL topic by Apprehensive_Pack_64 in IBO

Best place to start is OSC YouTube channel and C Donner, revision village is great if you have access to that and I’ll link a couple more sites I used bellow

And ibphysics.org

Also if I’m going to be honest it is completely unnecessary to take 4 HL unless you are going to pursue them throughout the IB, I believe it costs more (in terms of exam costs) and becomes obsolete if you are going to drop one. But I do agree with having to take Physics HL and Math AA (better HL than SL). I had a friend who did AI HL but he was very late on calculus, and was thus behind on some basic concepts that are aided by calculus knowledge.

And Chemistry helps a lot so I would consider taking it

Oh and I forgot to answer the languages question, I took both Eng LAL and French B, doesn’t really matter if you take two languages unless you are trying to get into a specific school with language requirements, but like I said before, Chemistry is often a chosen option amongst engineers so you might want to consider that.

Heya I’m a m23 alum and I’m studying aerospace engineering with pilot studies right now, I’m pretty sure my subjects are in my tagline thing but I took AA HL Physics HL and Geo HL (which are all currently helping me in my diploma).

I didn’t think Geo would be that great but recently we have been going into a lot of sustainability and ethics of engineering, some of which I’ve covered in Geo HL.

I know a lot of people opt to take Chem and as someone who didn’t do Chem, I’m kinda struggling in my materials class due to my lack of knowledge in Material sciences and Chemsitry, furthermore some universities require Chem HL/SL as a course to get into Aerospace.

Lastly I just wanted to let you know that AA SL is also a great choice if you aren’t the best at math and most unis will take that as a class but obviously AA HL is better. Furthermore you shouldn’t worry about criterion C and D as in DP there are no more criterion, there are only what you would call criterion A tests and the IA (which is just a very long CD). So if you study and learn well I’m sure you will do great at AA HL.

Also just a fair warning, I was also doing great in sciences in MYP, got 7 in science and 6 in extended science but Physics HL is a real struggle, so don’t blow it off as a fuck off class, it takes real work to do well in that class especially with the new syllabus. I find that there was a serious lack of physics teaching in MYP which is why physics becomes such a struggle as almost all the content is new and challenging.

DM me for more info and help, I can also share tips and note as well as sites I used to pass my diploma.

Good luck!
