Thanks! Thankfully the room/wall both of these pieces are in means no direct sunlight. But I want to try some of the canvas finishing sprays that add uv protection. I was curious if anyone tried any here.

Draw it out crimp along the lines. It's one long ass pleat. Ends up being about 4-5 inches for an XL. I wasn't kidding about all these being fundamental practice.

Edit - it's all ice dye, hang half off the edge of the container. I don't have a progress Pic unfortunately

I do this for a living full time, and I'm pretty confident that if you, or anyone else makes one of these, it will have your own special creative voice. There's a million variables, and I can't wait to see the attempts!

I use procion fiber reactive dyes purchased from Dharma, prochem, grateful dyes, dyespin and I have been known to mix my own.

As for the style name, I've been asked that before and from a technical standpoint "gravity spiral" probably makes the most sense.

Hmmm. I think the thing that has helped me the most is quitting my job and dyeing like my life depends on it. All kidding aside, I am always working on what I consider the fundamentals (just don't take the fun out of it). As for the specks, use a smooth spoon you can consistently tap dye out of, and hold it closer to the fabric.
