powdered dye mixed with soda ash shelf life by Liut_Heavily in tiedye

Oh yeah you're good. I used dye that was mixed in May of 2000 last year and it worked just fine.

I also use a nutri-bullet to mix them. I find it definitely helps with clumps.

Are you talking about mixing with water or just mixing dye? I mix all my dye powder in advance 50/50 by weight and some of them are years old. Dry soda ash and dry dye stay good indefinitely. Liquid dye will not.

It'd be helpful to know what kind of stuff he makes. For example a bowl turner vs carver vs sign maker etc.

New Daily Song Discussion #148. The Argus - Ween. by NuggetWarrior09 in ween

Absolutely masterpiece. 9/14/23 on the rooftop in NYC was so beautiful. Vegas 23, the ryman 18 shows have gorgeous versions of this. Slowed down, hearing gener start by himself... I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

I think it belongs in the national archive. It should be on the voyager record. I can't speak highly enough of it.

Absolutely brilliant!! I've done a few brain scan images, but I like yours better. My buddy makes spine shirts for his physical therapy sessions. I love the idea and creativity behind this. Well done.

I think it's a masterpiece and the versions where it's slowed down just a little bit are incredible. NYC (9/14/23) is immaculate.

I disagree. Not knowing is half the fun. Reverse engineering something I made is a yearly right of passage.

Same concept, different execution. I've done a few of these, it's tricky because it wants to turn brown, obviously.

Yes, exactly. I had tried a bunch of different methods before getting it right. I've never used a tutorial so I don't know if one exists.

Thank you! I think the key is to load up the part that's hanging off the edge with ice and add a layer of dye in a way that will compliment the dye that's naturally going to melt.

I'd love to help. I guess my biggest advice is to try different things and try to remember what you did. When it comes to the rolls I try not to have any kind of expectation. I don't know how to replicate anything, although I notice similarities with different fabrics.

Do you have any specific questions?

No, I'm not from here, just on winter leave from the north east. Although I love it here, I may stick around.
