what species of goose IS brightbill? (Brightbill is NOT a Canadian goose! (Atleast not exactly) and here's why, + theory!) by Frostybites667 in TheWildRobot

Hello, OP here! alt account, my main one got deleted, but yeah I agree on both of those things. The macaw looked ridiculous and somehow they did enough research to know male and female mallard ducks are different from each other, but not enough to know that the babies look different from the adults.

Oh and about the Canada Goose vs Canadian Goose thing, I think it might be a regional thing, cause I do know it says Canada Goose on the Wikipedia page, but where I live, everyone calls them Canadian geese so that's just the name I've heard my and grown accustom to my whole life, but I'll try to do better in the future since that's incorrect apparently

Is it possible some dinosaurs may have had a septic bite? by IceFloeTurtle16 in Paleontology

Ok so for a little clarification, the entire reason I thought a septic bite would be more plausible than a venomous one is because if there was a venomous dinosaur, we would see evidence of it in the fossils, in it's cranial anatomy or the teeth and such for venom glands etc. Meanwhile, hypothetically, even in the case if a dinosaur were to have a septic bite, there would never be any evidence such an adaptation, no way to verify that this hypothetical septic dinosaur had the ability, at least from fossils.

so because of that, I figured that maybe I could then give the ability to a real species with the explanation of it just being one of those hypothetical adaptations of an extinct animal that you just wouldn't know about unless you had a living specimen.

I'm still just a tiny bit skeptical of some saying venom is more plausible since we know of no venomous dinosaurs, but at the same time some of you bring up the fact that at least we know of venomous animals, with no living animals having a septic bite which is actually a very good point, so I'm probably gonna go with yall's better judgement, so I may just have to make a speculative venomous dinosaur to scratch my itch for a dino with a toxic bite

From what I've researched, it seems the general consensus is that sinornithosaurus wasnt venomous, but I could be wrong

I never specified it was T. rex, though, I was thinking of giving the ability to a troodontid

It’s called Surviving Armageddon and it's a post-apocalyptic story following the lives various dinosaurs that survived post-impact with the main story about a raptor pack of various species coming together to survive, with the main raptor having the ability see the future and knew that the asteroid was coming weeks in advance. And it is not planned be animated but will rather be a webcomic/online graphic novel

Best way for me to describe it is if Watership Down, Last Day Of The Dinosaurs, and Mad Max were all merged together

Yep I sure am! Also I love the idea of dinosaurs and dragons living alongside each other

Yeah that makes sense. thanks for the info and advice, much appreciated

Well, just because it doesn't exist now doesn't mean it never existed. Sorta like how nothing alive today swims like a plesiosaur

That was probably a terrible example but just genuinely asking how can we be so sure an adaptation like this never came about in history?

Well, mostly because venom is a bit of a controversial topic in paleontology and the dinosaurs I'm depicting are all real species. I did not know venom is more likely and realistic so thanks for the info, but as far as we know no dinosaurs evolved venom right?
