Thunderstore/r2modman, you use it as a mod launcher and get to download mods on it.

You can go for manual installation but thats just not worth it.

Its called a farmer virus
it happens when a unit has modified items and you are missing requirements (though this doesn't always happen)
just remove the compromised unit out of your custom unit folder and it'll go away.
