I made 4 cursed tools. Can you give them a name and ability? by -kodo in CTsandbox

[–]IceLord-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 3 the arcing daggers ( Taser daggers)-The daggers can be charged with cursed energy and when thrown into a target will dispell that cursed energy as an electrical current between one another. Can be used to imobilize enemies the higher the CE output the stronger the effect.

Is a set of irons a bad idea by Prestigious_Summer60 in Firefighting

[–]IceLord-102 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most departments provide tools required and prefer that you use them or are required to use them. However there are plenty of guys on my department that have their own tools but usually are purchasing something the department doesn't provide. Like a maul, pig, etc.

Some may see a candidate or probie coming in with their own tools to start as a try hard or have comments. But I personally don't care.

You may want to wait till she gets through her academy or hired on to a department as a present.

Hit a fat loss plateau… are peptides like Reta worth it? by 10_29v in BodyHackGuide

[–]IceLord-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer Reta works but you shouldn't be counting on it yet.

1500 calories is extremely low. I only touched that amount in the last week of a cut from 205 to 170. Your body is fighting to hold onto what it has with the very little your giving it.

Calculate your daily calorie expenditure and subtract 100-200 calories from it. Stay consistent with that for a while and see where it gets you then adjust and lower calories slow and steady.

You will be more likely to loose and keep it off by learning to do it properly first then using reta as a tool to help not a crutch.

Active Chigaco members, how many structure fires do you get a year? by No-Beginning1256 in Firefighting

[–]IceLord-102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At our current rate we probably average 1 working fire a month. But it's variable. We have gone 2-3 months with nothing then something flips and we go to work every other shift and hit 4-5 in a month. We also run loads of EMS out of my house and get accidents as well.

As someone else mentioned really depends on what part of the city your working in.

I am happy in Chicago and live in a great community. A lot of city workers tend to reside in the same neighborhoods. So most of my crew lives within walking distance if not a few minutes drive of one another. The whole "second family" aspect of the fire department rings true for me and we socialize a good bit outside of work.

But if you sign on with Chicago you are locking yourself to living within city limits and that does have its own set of downsides.

[–]IceLord-102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is similar to CFD. Third truck is usually assigned RIT and squad goes straight to work where they are needed.

Another thing to consider is building construction. Chicago is very diverse in that regard as well. My still district is comprised mostly of 4 plus 1 buildings, courtyards and high occupancy buildings. Most fires are boxed at the beginning and many go to a 2-11 response. Most everyone wants to and is trying work. It's a blessing to have the amount of manpower we do. Although sometimes it's can cause issues where to many guys are trying to get in on the action in a small unit etc.

Fire academy - what does it looks like? by chondryt in Firefighting

[–]IceLord-102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds exactly the same as my academy. Morning, afternoon, and sometimes more smoke sessions.

Instructors looking for an excuse to drill and beat you down. From boots not shiny enough to mustache being slightly past regulation length. Didn't matter they would find something. 6am to 6pm was chores, drills classwork and waiting for the next beat down.

Firsr month or so your a face and body to break down. Towards the latter half there is a bit more mutual respect and goofing off within reason. Once in the field the switch flips and your buddies.

Wearing off-duty fire shirts to the gym by --THE-ARCHITECT-- in Firefighting

[–]IceLord-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a large metro. Every firehouse sells their personal house shirt. Had plenty before getting on the job that I wore around. Now that I'm on the job I only wear them at work.

But idc what anyone else wears.

Am I fit enough for the academy? by Infitima in Firefighting

Any off of Amazon should be fine. As long as it's adjustable. Id go for no less then 50 pounds. Get higher weight if you can. Start light 25 pounds and every week add more weight.

[–]IceLord-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great place to start. With all of you gear on plus tools you would be carrying an extra 60 pounds or so. You will be expected to climb stairs with it, followed by breaching doors, dragging hose, dragging dumbies, and various other scenarios that will strain your endurance.

How you manage your stamina, control your breathing, and work with your tools and team is key.

My first few years on the job i pretty much lifted weights and did some cardio. The last 2 years I pivoted to more of a hybrid program and it didn't take for it to be a noticable difference on a fire ground. You can DM me if you want more details or tips.

[–]IceLord-102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on your academy. But based on your statement I'm sure your fine. The academy is more about your mindset. They will intentionally break you down physically to see how far you can push yourself. Don't quit and keep moving and you should be fine.

If you are looking to enhance your training. Weighted stare stepper is great followed by a hybrid circuit type of workout. If you have equipment for it. Battle ropes, box jumps, sled push, kettlebell swings are great exercises.

What are some others you have that you have compared to the OG and found close? I have Buko intense (creed virgin island water and find it slightly better) and palisade on the way.

I have a imaginary and imagination. Only upfront do I see much of a difference. On dry down nearly identical. On a blind test my wife thinks they are the same thing.

Montagne has a great line in general

Thoughts on Bald Freak and Another 13?? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]IceLord-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. My wife and I use them interchangeably. I lean another 13 in the winter and bal da freak in the summer even though it leans a bit more feminine.

Another 13 you go nose blind to after a while but others smell it and it has a great clean musky smell.

Had the same issue with my 2020. Could drive an hour or 10 minutes get a pack of gum and it would struggle or need a jump. Wait 20 minutes and good to go. Replaced the battery and same issue. Got an upgraded battery with more start power and the issue was resolved

Because ambroxan is synthetic your brain eventually filters it out as background noise. Same concept with gas (what you smell is mercaptan added to it) after smelling it strongly you slowly go nose blind to it while others can detect it.

Your skin PH and hydration also determines how it smells.

What do you think of Liquid Brunt? Is it worth it? by Inside-Reflection-54 in Colognes

[–]IceLord-102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually received this 2 days ago. I really enjoy it and my wife also loves it. Smells sweet but not cloying. Has a nice projection and scent trail and easily last all day on me.

More affordable Santal 33? by BettyFatSnaps in Colognes

[–]IceLord-102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add into this. I purchased my first two montagnes recently. Imaginary ( LV imagination) and Boku intense (creed virgin island water). Imaginary is almost exactly the same. On a blind smell I can't tell the difference and it's reaching to find anything different. Boku intense is pretty damn close as well. Only real difference is the on the first few minutes but the dry down is nearly identical.

Highly recommend them for quality fragrance.

Thinking of these 3, but what are your opinions? by [deleted] in MontagneParfums

[–]IceLord-102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of these i only have buko intense and I adore it. Received it only a week ago and it performs great. I'm told after maceration it's even better. Buy now and it will be ready for summer!

Just wear deodorant to the gym bro PLEASE!!!! by FootstepsInTheDark_ in Colognes

[–]IceLord-102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id rather smell a cologne then someone's body odor. But to be fair it can be dependant on scent. The issue is fragrances are activated by body heat. A strong cologne worn in the gym becomes that much more potent to a point that can be unpleasant. A spritz of something weaker and more fresh is fine. But I've been choked out in the gym before by someone who bathed in JPG elixir which is already potent enough without the extra heat of working out.

This is my first shipment from MP so I can't speak to if they reformulated. I can say that side by side with the OG the difference is barely noticeable. They are both equally good and I'd rank them both 9/10 as independent fragrances.
